“Bigger or equal names” and pretty much nobody knows who they are. You see that right?

There is legally paying for it and while it makes him look creepy, the NFL can live with it. Breaking the law and human trafficking being involved, the NFL can't ignore it.

I’m failing to see the pattern. Please tell us what it is.

And also please fill us in on why providing for a kid that is not his because it’s the child of a girl close to him is “creepy”.

Johnny in the XFL or AAF next? Or is his football career done?

Former Browns first-rounder Johnny Manziel’s path has taken another unfortunate turn.

According to TSN, the Montreal Alouettes have released Manziel, after the CFL directed them to terminate his contract. The league also will not register him to a contract with any other team.

The team said that Manziel didn’t fulfill the agreement which made him eligible to play in Canada.

“We are disappointed by this turn of events,” Alouettes G.M. Kavis Reed said in a release. “Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement. We worked with the league and presented alternatives to Johnny, who was unwilling to proceed.”

While there are new leagues in play, and about to begin play, until we know more about the nature of the CFL walking away from Manziel, it’s unclear if anyone will give him another chance.

IIRC a lot of the conditions for Manziel to play up here in Canada had to do with keeping himself clean and staying away from the party lifestyle/alcohol etc etc.

Sounds like he couldn't stay on the straight and narrow. I'm sure we'll find out what he did to get his contract terminated. I can't see the AAF giving him a chance but McMahon's XFL probably would.

Didn't the XFL say that they had a strict behavior policy and won't allow criminals?

Correct, but I think that had more to do with the flag controversy more than anything else. McMahon's a carny and he'll do at least SOMETHING to get the headlines. I'm actually surprised at how low key and professional the roll out for XFL 2.0 is though so maybe he's serious about this.

Yeah, anyone with a criminal record is banned from the xfl.

I feel like that criminal record thing was from that first press conference, when Vince came out there and they didn't have much ironed out. That was also over a year ago.

Apparently, there's speculation that Manziel reached out to the AAF hence why his CFL contract was terminated.

Iirc they have sense softened their stance on that.

Don’t think it matters much though, I think the Johnny football saga is wrapping up its final act

I saw that but didn't understand why it mattered. If he was under contract with the CFL and didn't get permission to play in the AAF, surely they wouldn't sign him. Why just release him without getting him to buyout his contract?

IIRC his deal was an iron clad 2 year deal that meant no contact with any other leagues etc etc. So it was a violation of his actual contract which means they can terminate without pay.

He sent out a tweet ending in:
"I look forward to exploring new options within the United States."

I'm sure he did contact the AAF about joining them. Wouldn't be surprised to see a team go after him.
