Re: NFL Off Topic
It's like if an employee who is under contract comes to their boss and says I have a better offer from another company. You don't fire the employee who has a contract, you make them break the contract per the terms and get X money back.Comment

Possible Rule Change Alert:
The Chiefs lost the AFC Championship Game without their offense ever taking the field in overtime, and they don’t want that to happen again — to them or any other team.
And so, Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach said on PFT Live, Chiefs coach Andy Reid is working on a proposal to change the overtime rules and guarantee that each team would get an offensive possession.
“Coach is working on that,” Veach said. “I think everybody wants a chance for guys to do what they do. I don’t really see the downside of having that. Especially when you have a player like Pat Mahomes. It would have been a lot of fun. I think people, if they weren’t already tuned in for a great game, would have turned on that overtime.”
Overtime rules are often the subject of offseason discussion, but this year, after both conference championship games went to overtime, is likely to see even more of that discussion than usual. The Chiefs will have to convince 23 other teams to support them for any rule to change.#RespectTheCultureComment

I am fine with the current rules and will be fine with the change mentioned above.
It’s when we start eliminating ties where I draw the line. Watching folks lose their minds anytime a tie occurs is a pleasure of mine.Comment

The least cool thing in sports is the loser point in hockey. Loser... point. Let that sink in. You are rewarded for LOSING in OT/shootout. That’s how I feel about this. It’s a BS consolation possession, falsely affecting the outcome of the game.
Fixing the way possession is determined in OT is the fairest solution, not giving more and more possessions out. A coin flip to determine a sporting contest is weird, totally agree. Very old school. Make it simple — home team gets ball first (unless they pull a Marty Morn). Home field advantage, for real. If you know you might not get a possession in OT as the visiting team, you gotta make sure it doesn’t get to that point. You get an even 8 home/away and in the playoffs, you’re seeded. Oh no... I’ll gladly give up division winners being seeded higher if we don’t mess with possession in OT.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Nah, just saying it could be worse than what we have right now. I remember how people lost their minds over a team getting into FG position and just kicking it for the win on the first possession.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If they change it, they need to change it where each team gets the ball and continues until it is no longer tied. No extra points allowed, so more games don't end up running out of time tied.
I also wouldn't mind no punts allowed, but that would take the tie games out.

...and if that happened there probably wouldn't be any serious consideration to rule changes. That's kind of the point.Comment
