They have a nice group right now with Olsen, Benjamin, Funchess, and Ginn. The question is, will the front office retain these guys when their contracts are up.

Panthers have a problem with that offensive line. Cam is great, but the offensive line is where it all starts.

I think their receiving options are a bit overrated as well.

That would assume people think their receiver group is good, no?

We all knew he was going to get paid once his rookie deal was coming up. Samething will happen with Luck and Wilson when he pimps a new deal out of Seattle as well.

Lol that's how I felt about Cutler. And the speculation of Dalton hitting $100mil.

I like Kelvin Benjamin, but that's about it. Really don't know how anyone could think they are any good as a group.

Unfortunately due to the lack of talent at the QB position coming out of the NCAA these QBs who haven't done much to prove themselves will get paid a ton of cash every time.

I don't think that there's a lack of talent at qb. What's more believable, talent just suddenly disappearing from all of college football at one position, or a league seemingly unwilling to adapt to said talent?

I think Newton deserves any money thrown his way... he hasn't had the best supporting cast offensively whether through injury or incompetence. The defense has been pretty good of late...

I see Newton as a franchise QB, the first true one Carolina has ever had. Can't let those guys walk, just have to be smart with how the contract is structured. The market for QB's will only go up, so as long as they don't go insane, it'll be on par or maybe even below the going rate in a couple years.

I feel more comfortable throwing dollars at Newton then pretty much every other QB whose gotten a new deal in the past couple years. My one hesitation is the beating Cam's taken his first 5 years in the league... but you simply can't let him walk. Just like Baltimore with Flacco. They've achieved a certain level of success that you can't justify being cheap because these QB's, even if they're not the best overall, they deserve their payday.

He already had like a $15m cap number, a 5 $100m deal isnt crazy for a franchise QB at this point with the inflation of the cap and they'll probably still manage to reduce his cap number this year.

As a Panther fan I have no issues with Cam's deal. His numbers were down last year but he played hurt for most of the season not to mention the o line was in shambles for the first half of the season.

A little bit of both, perhaps?

People expecting Andrew Luck-types to come out of every draft.

                          The QB position is fine.

Most of these offensive coordinators are simply stuck in their own way of doing things.

Most of the penalties benefit QBs which lets average QBs off the hook most of the time.

So now the story is that Cam hasn't done anything? Considering what he's had to work with, he's done plenty... and last year had them in the playoff hunt as pretty much the only offensive option when the Oline was terrible and was probably playing at about 60% most of the year.
