Wasn't questioning, just genuinely asking. Let anyone else tell it, it was Payton covering **** up.

it's still weird to me, injury clauses or not, Russ had a resurgence on the field, did he not?

like, the lions were total trash in 2022 (and every year prior), until something got "fixed" with Goff and they went on a run, momentum that led to finally being decent in 2023 (I still think they suck, but that's just my repressed inner lion fan speaking)

why wouldn't Denver think they could do the same? Broncos sucked and they totally turned it around. It seems more to me that Payton and Russ just don't get along (and Payton makes sure it's known on the sidelines)

The Broncos didn’t turn it around though.

They started 1-5 and were again a joke until as mentioned above the defense went on a truly unprecedented run.

Russ’s numbers certainly LOOK better this year but it’s because of a lot of things that changed from last year. They got much better at running the ball (effectively) which opened up the PA game for him which allows to get him outside of the pocket which is pretty much where he needs to be.

He also got better protection this year.

He still can’t throw to the middle of the field which is a huge problem.

All of that aside though, regardless of the injury clause the contract Paton gave him before he ever played a snap with the Broncos handicapped the team for the next three years even with him cut. They are up against the cap already.

It was a contract to win a Super Bowl. Not to play mediocre and miss the playoffs.

If there were ever a year to give a non-Qb MVP this year, it would be this year.

Ain’t no way folks think this current crop of QBs are good enough to be MVP worthy. Guys like Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Cam, Ryan…we didn’t watch them go crazy all those years to win MVP just for these guys now to barely crack 4k yards passing with an extra game.

I’m with that. It’s generally a QB award, but it’s not a necessity to be that position. The QB’s this year haven’t taken it, so other position players should be right in the thick of the convo for MVP. I mean, people are throwing out OL names this year. Lol

I think CMC probably is most deserving.

He should end up around 2,200-2,300 APY and 23-ish TDs.

The only thing that could change that is a monster 2 week performance from Allen to win division (with help from Balt).

Just remembered the year Rodgers won when JJ should have.

**** that made me so angry. Still think it's so dumb. How JJ affected the direct outcomes of so many games that heat still blows my dick off.

Anyway, put me in for McCaffrey or Hill I guess.

What is the purpose of the small neck thing some players wear, like Pollard in this image?

It seems too small to be protective padding. Dalton Kincaid wears it too.

Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

Whether or not they work I don’t know. They are Q collars and supposedly protect brain injury and concussions.

I actually believe they started being used in youth sports before making their way to higher levels.

Yeah I remember Luke Kuechly wearing it after his concussions for his last couple of years. He didn't have one after he started wearing it but I have no idea if there's some cause/ effect there

IF this article is to be believed, then things may not be good in Pittsburgh.

Report: Kenny Pickett ‘refused’ to backup Mason Rudolph vs. Seahawks
There’s trouble brewing in the quarterback room of the Pittsburgh Steelers. That is if you believe Pittsburgh media personality Mark Madden.
Madden posted on X this afternoon that a source told him, “Pickett 100 percent refused to be the backup.”

This makes so much more sense right now as to why Kenny Pickett was inactive leaving Mitch Trubisky as Mason Rudolph‘s backup in the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the Seattle Seahawks.
If what Madden stated is true, Pickett needs to take a good, hard look at himself. He’s not earned the right to have this entitled stance, nor has he earned the right to step back in as a starter over Rudolph — who’s played the best ball of his career.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

Madden got that from a source.

Kaboly and Dave Dolley have also each reported it verbally, just haven’t written it.
