It all boils down to Cutler being the best QB the Bears have had in years for me. I don't have the list of QB's they've had in my lifetime in front of me, but I know it's not at all impressive.

The drop off at the position after someone like Cutler or Romo is too great to just allow someone like that walk away without a solid, proven backup plan to fall back on.

So we just gonna pretend Jay Cutler is a beast qb now? I mean I'm not too high on McCown being the Bears qb of the future but let's not get carried away like Jay Cutler is a otherworldly qb. He's average to ok at best. The second his agent says 20 mil per, I would hang up the phone if I'm the Bears FO.

I wouldn't even compare him to romo. Cutler is an ok qb. Nothing to lose sleep over. Reminds me of Carson Palmer.

That's what I'm saying lol. Y'all keep saying Cutler gives them the best chance to win, but that's all McCown has done since he's been given a chance. (now watch him have the worst game ever Sunday).

Even if this is his ceiling, that's a pretty good inexpensive ceiling. How much longer do people think Cutlet is gonna play? Over 30 and often injured. And this year he got hurt behind a good line lol. I'm not trying to bash Cutler at all and again say I'm saying they should just dump Cutler. But I don't understand how it's out of the question. No one is saying why Cutler is the better option, just that he is. Overall, he may be the better QB. But right now, in this system, Idk if he's #MillionsOfDollars better than Cutler.

I don't know how many takers there would be in the trade market for McCown. I understand the sell high, but I don't really see him being a starter for any other team. (Barring injuries on a team).

I know it ain't the popular choice around here but I still think McCown could be a good stop gap and have Trestman draft a QB he wants to groom.

Lol that was a horrendous interview. How many times were they gonna rephrase the same question? "Did you like your house being on fire?" "How did the fire change your life?" "Your thoughts on fire reform?" I mean seriously.

At best, this would probably be neutered a bit like Rugby will be when it's played at the next Olympics to try to make it more competitive.
It would be very interesting to see how countries like Japan fare because in the youth level world championships that country has fared very well. If it can somehow translate to working well at the adult level than you may have an interesting tournament with the US, Canada, Japan and UK and/or Australia doing well.

Of course, that's if the NFL doesn't force players into participating.

Completely different stuff on my mind though.....

After watching the Football Life on the '93 Oilers.....Man, if that team were performing with those kind of dynamics and craziness going on it'd make the whole RGIII/Shanahan thing look like a picnic.

Can't wait to see the Schottenheimer episode next week. I just wish his could be 2 hrs long.

Chicago being shell shocked due to bad QB's or one year wonders since McMahon is going to add a couple mil to Cutler's contract. That has to play in to the negotiations.

Cutler may not be a world beater, but he provides an amount of comfort and certainty at QB that Chicago simply hasn't had. And this is with all his flaws! Turnovers and injuries included.

Personally, I see another Ryan Fitzpatrick situation. I think Chicago should hold on to Cutler unless the price tag is too high. At that point, you've gotta make sure the rest of your team is in good shape and hope McCown continues this way and/or a young guy can come in, learn, and take over down the line. I believe Trestman is a great offensive mind and he can maximize McCown and tutor a young QB. But he hasn't had Cutler long enough to maximize him either.

Not just that, but RGIII will be inactive.

Man the Redskins went from one of the young budding teams of the future to a complete dumpster fire in one offseason. Thats pretty remarkable. I feel like we should have seen this coming when they drafted Kirk Cousins that same year they took Griffin. That was just odd no matter what way you slice it. I kinda feel bad for Skins fans getting teased last season. That team must be cursed.

On a side note, they should have benched RG3 all the way back at the playoff game last year when he was barely making it back to the huddle after plays. His leg was hanging by a thread, and look where the man is now? It all went downhill from there.
