His attitude definitely held him back with Oakland. He was still in his prime (as he showed in his 1 year in New England after that stint). If he gave the same effort in Oakland that he did in New England or in Minnesota before that, he probably would've added an extra 15-20 TDs and couple thousand yards.

In that sense, I tend to agree with fatleg's dad.

506 Sports @506sports Neither DET-NE or AZ-SEA will be flexed to SNF in week 12, because Cowboys.
The Week 12 SNF is Cowboys/Giants, BTW.

Yeah, saw some discussion that this may be the first year no games are flexed out.

Agree here. Randy Moss could have probably broke many, if not all of Jerry Rice's records had he possessed half the heart of Rice. And that's where Moss' downfall always came, "he played when he wanted to" and whenever he loafed it was "Randy being Randy". Teams were quick to excuse his diva-like behavior. Such a shame. He's still a millionare and future HOF'er, but for such a talented player both physically and for his football IQ, he could have set a bar so high that few players could reach.

Wait....They're going to keep the week 12 Cowboys/Giants game in primetime because it's the Cowboys?!

I thought the flex schedule was to make sure there are good matchups that could produce entertaining games...I mean, C'MON MAN! I don't care if the more interesting match ups will most likely have teams that don't have a national following just give those teams the exposure damnit!

As a Minnesota fan yes his effort and attitude held him back. Imo he had everything to make him the greatest receiver to ever play the game however due to his taking off plays and throwing fits it didn't happen.

I couldn't count how many times that he would be open and not get the ball and then jog the rest of the series. Don't get me wrong he is one of my favorite Vikings that I ever got to see play but he did have a problem.

So do you think he could have broke most of Jerry Rice's records?

I don't think you'll find many who DON'T think he would've been a better player if his attitude was different. He's still arguably a top 3 WR all time so he deserves the slack he's given for it.

Don't think I can agree much with this. That Oakland team was awful. He can run open all he wants but if they can't get him the ball it doesn't matter.

To a degree, I'm sure it in some form or another ate into his career statistics. But I don't think enough to where his attitude was the difference between challenging Jerry Rice for best ever and being the clear cut best ever.

I'd say that he was the best receiver ever to play the game talent-wise. But the attitude kept him from being the best on the stat-sheet and in the mind of the fan (myself included.)

Man, I knew they weren't going to change it. I knew Seattle/Arizona wasn't getting moved their though. It's already the week 16 SNF game.

Yup. Always been about ratings, which typically are via a good game. 2 teams with massive followings is a good start.

The only protected game that week is Miami-New England.

Arizona at Seattle would probably have been the second choice, their rematch is already scheduled for SNF in a few weeks.

Lions at Pats maybe the only other option.

If San Diego continues to slide the only game that might get flexed out this season may be the Chargers hosting the Patriots week 14.

Its not because of the bum Cowboys. It's because the Giants are the #1 comedy on television right now.
