Lewis was really really good the season before but last season he struggled with drops. I think this season will show what Lewis we will get consistently. The Jags went from Fred Taylor to MJD. Hopefully they get lucky an keep getting production from whoever their next guy is, if they decide to move on from MJD.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Lewis is an asset, not what I'd call a weapon. Although I think you and I are mostly in the same ballpark about him.
I disagree w/ MJD's production being replace. No matter when he's on the field, he doesn't give away what you're running. He excels at running, catching, and blocking. That is not easy to find, unless you want to find three one dimensional backs.
Like you mentioned, he runs, he blocks and he catches the ball out of the back field so it shouldn't be that hard to find 3 RBs that do each of those well. If anything, that's how the NFL has been for a while now and plenty(if not all) of teams employ that same plan although alot of that depends on Coaching.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
I can see the situation from both sides, but lean towards siding with MJD. He's done great in a pretty bad situation, the team pretty much gave up on a proven QB in Garrard for no good reason last year, and the jury's still out on Gabbert and whether Blackmon can be a huge playmaker. That and guys are going to always want to get paid before age and injuries catch up to them.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Marcedes Lewis had as many TDs last year as you and I. Obviously part of that could be the situation w/ the QBs last year, but still...0 TDs for a TE isn't what I'd call a 'proven weapon'.
So unless me and you have different definitions of the word, which appears to be the case, let's not make it sound like MJD was the NFL version of 07 Lebron and 01 Iverson surrounded with a bunch of scrubs/role players. There's a difference between being a proven threat and a proven weapon and I'd say it's safe to say that Lewis is more towards the proven weapon side than being a proven threat, which is what MJD is.

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
MJD can try and find a trade with another team, but they won't give up anything of value, so the Jags won't trade him.
He either gets on the train or it runs him over. MJD has lost all leverage (if he even had any to begin with) with Jennings and Owens running over everyone so far. Jennings has been a weapon that no one saw because he had some injuries. He is finally healthy though and it appears the team is fine with him.
MJD needs to come crawling back with his tail between his legs right now. Needs to to apologies to the team and earn the starting RB job back. If he comes back in week 1, I wouldn't start him. He most likely won't be in shape and he definitely won't know the new offense.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
So i just realized with all current young QBs in the league starts and established vets, where are some of the top QBs that would usually go in like the top half f the 1st round even going to go besides like Arizona.
Obviously it's a long time until then, but it'll be an interesting thing to watch.
Also regarding the MJD thing, I think too many people are putting too much stock into the performances of a couple preseason games. Let's see when the real thing startsSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
The funny part is up until the last page and a half, I haven't seen anyone on this or any other message board or even on TV make anything more out of Jennings or Owens' performances so I'm not sure how people are putting "too much stock" into them.
But then again, this is exactly what Preseason is for, right? LOL#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
And the year before he had 10 and not to mention he was improving each year as far as Yards/Receptions and the only thing that remained the same were his TDs.
So unless me and you have different definitions of the word, which appears to be the case, let's not make it sound like MJD was the NFL version of 07 Lebron and 01 Iverson surrounded with a bunch of scrubs/role players. And for years Jax has had no solid #1 recievers to speak of. I don't think they've had one since Jimmy Smith, though Blackmon obviously could change that. Yeah it's not Lebron on Cleveland but it's damn sure not that far off all things considered.
Didn't he undergo Back Surgery right after the Lockout ended or was that before the season?Last edited by rangerrick012; 08-22-2012, 01:41 AM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
They had a need for a RB for the last couple years, it hasn't seemed to hurt them THAT much.
just saying
Seriously, they really need to get at least a serviceable guy back there to keep the offense from being TOO predictable or it's going to be one of those things where when the skill position guys get older than the offense is going to struggle more.
In other news, interesting to see that the Jags will be playing one game a year in England now. I guess the new owner wants to give the team an international presence.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Personally I think the MJD trade thing is a bluff on his part. Him and his agent are just floating the possibility out there to try to make the Jags go into holy **** mode and rush to bring him bags of money.
It's too bad the chances of the Chargers trading for him are like 2 percent, if that.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

This NFL AM on NFL Network is really no different than the crap they show on ESPN.
Of course, you're going to get the daily Tebow/Sanchez Update every hour but to have a Top 10 Celebrations for Week 2 of the PRESEASON and then to top it off, ask Vanilla Ice and William Hung for their thoughts on Tebow/Jets as well?
Come on NFL Network, ya'll are better than this.#RespectTheCultureComment
