Calling that ignorant shows that you must be misinformed.

Both my grandparents are in fact Native American. You're right. Doesn't apply to me.

Not going to get into though. As you said, against the TOS.

      Re: NFL Off Topic 2012

I'm guessing you didn't read the discussion me and Tim had because I basically agreed with those things you've already mentioned in regards to Harvin.

It's insulting to Jennings and Nelson that anyone would mention Sidney Rice as if he were on their level. Dude's just not that good and never has been. He put up stats running deep with Favre behind center. He really hasn't done anything else.
Really? How is that insulting? I said at that time(2009)he was as good as any WR we had on our team then. He may not have been as good as Jennings, but there was no question he was a better WR than Nelson or Jones especially since the Nelson you seen then is NOT the same Nelson you've seen from Super Bowl XLV to now.

Saying he's "not good" is unfair to him and a bit of hyperbole because he has shown he can play and be a deep threat/red zone target. Injuries have pretty much been his only issue because he can't stay on the field at all.

So again, saying he's as good as Jennings/Nelson/Jones/Finley right NOW: Ridiculous to say.

Saying it back in 2009: Certainly fair to say, considering what we knew about each WR at the time.

YOU are not offended so therefore it doesn't apply to you. It makes it more interesting that your family is so close to the issue and you still don't recognize that people could have legitimate problems with it even if you don't (not sure why you would just mention your grandparents bc that would make at least one of your parents Native American also). But that's on you. Either way, it's clear you don't understand why some one would be offended... as lots of people are. You should respect those people even if you don't agree.

It's still insulting. I never believed in Rice and always thought he was a product of his environment at the time. Injuries or not, he hasn't done much of anything since. He's a solid WR but I wouldn't want him as anything higher than a #2 for me, and would rather have a ton of guys than him in that role.

I have to compare him in 2009 rather than Rice today bc that's when he was on the Vikings. But the comparison was, to me, to the Packers WRs today, not back then. Rice back then still wasn't as good as either of those two are today. Don't forget this is in context with Cobb, and who he has with him right now. Harvin had nothing close to that at any skill position besides RB... and when he was on the field in 2009, I'd still say he was the best WR out there then also.

Regarding the Redskins name, as a kid I always just though of the uniforms instead of the Native American in the logo. Same thing with the Browns, Orange, etc. I always figured that if they wanted to change anything, it should just be dropping the Native American imagery more so than the name. But that's just me, I would understand them wanting to change the name if they did.

Not a fan of bending over backwards just to appease people who are offended by things.

If the Redskins ever changed their name because of that, I'd be pissed.

I know. Shockingly, some of the responses to it just still surprise me.

I would hardly be pissed. I can totally understand why there would be a group of people who wanted the name changed. The lack of empathy is the shocking part in this to me.

There's no empathy because most people don't know or are around any native americans or reservations.

I worked on one for 4 1/2 years. I just shake my head when everyone takes an extreme side on the issue because it's not that simple.

Anywho - Brady Quinn is a starter in the NFL again folks. Good. Really good.

I dont know a single Native American person. I dont know of any Native American reservation in Brooklyn or in NY for that matter. And until today I hadn't actually thought of the Redskin's name and logo as offensive.

But I can understand why a group of people can feel insulted by a term/imagery depicting them in a way they feel is wrong. Comparing them to Peta or Vegans is just ridiculous.

Im not exactly calling for the Redskins to change their name either. But I can see the other side of it and have absolutely nothing against them for taking their position.
