My contribution to this debate is that...Tony Romo is pretty good.

    That is all.

It fits into what that article was saying. Peyton is a lot better than Tony, obviously, but he'll never live down the first few years of his career, clearly. On the contrary, Brady has been meh in 'big' games of late, yet, is constantly given a pass.

Tony, being of interest to me, will deal with that same stigma regardless of what happens from here on out. Forget the fact that Romo has had more GW drives than any other QB in the past 2 seasons, I believe was the stat, he'll never get rid of the 'choker' label.

Even though Peyton has won the SB, people still want to claim him overrated, it appears. There's only one QB I would take over Peyton right now, and that's Rodgers.

Oh I agree with you, it's often a case of "perception is reality" in sports and the perception is that Romo is a choke artist du jour. I think he's a bit better than that but he's going to go down in Cowboys lore as another Danny White who puts up great stats but can't deliver in the clutch. I think the narrative will change if he ever gets to a SB however I just don't see that in a Cowboys uniform as that team is forever doomed to dysfunction as long as Jerruh is running it.

Manning to me should get a pass as he's finally done what everyone asked him to. I mean, look it, I think a case can be made that the Colts team that won the SB was probably the weakest in terms of offense but it was a more cohesive team unit. It wasn't like they won in spite of Manning but he didn't have to be THE main man.

I don't understand the backlash against Peyton right now from some quarters. He's not the same guy he was 10-12 years ago and I applaud him for going to Denver as he's taking on the one last big bugaboo of his career and that's winning in cold weather/bad weather games. The man's legacy is secure let's not needlessly go trampling all over it.

Manning is still in my personal top 3 right now in the league. For what's it's worth, the other two are Brees and Brady.

Manning or any QB really shouldn't be immune from any criticism at all, especially if it's valid and has some merit. Not that anyone here has been doing that anyway.

So let's get this straight. You would take Manning over any of the other 3 mentioned above in a must win game?

Cause I honestly think you'd be stupid to do so. That's just me though.

At this point in their careers I would take Rodgers over any of them, Manning would be my 2nd choice, Brady 3rd, Brees 4th. They are all pretty equal at this point and if someone wanted to rank them a different way that's fine but to act like Manning is clearly behind the other 3 is crazy and the only place that is a popular opinion is Patriot land.

It's funny that this is the "bad game" everyone is focused on too. The Broncos clearly had a game plan to run the ball down the Pats throats... and it worked! He definitely didn't have a good game, but the point of the team is to win. It's similar to Flacco getting hammered for his stats against the Pats in the playoffs a few years ago when the Ravens won bc the Pats couldn't stop the run. Doesn't make any sense.

If Welker had fair caught the ball and the Broncos ended up winning on a big run would this even be a discussion? Maybe it still would because stats are all that matters I guess.

The NFL plays a 16-game season, and each game is important. The most recent game does not outweigh every other one, although it seems that way at times. So let's try to figure out the Denver Broncos, and where they … Continue reading →

The last 3 pages of this thread…

I didn't notice Manning running into the punt or turning it over the other night. This was a Broncos/Patriots game, not Manning vs Brady that the network wants to hype up.

My fault for calling out Peyton Manning for being overrated. It has been made clear my view of him is completely different than others on the board. Lets make one thing very clear before we move on though. Not once did I say Sunday night's game was the deciding factor in my opinion. Felt this way for a long time now.

Manning does suck. I mean, he couldn't even bat down a floating pass to Jacoby Jones to secure his team's victory over the eventual Super Bowl Champs in the playoffs last year.

Cam would've made that play left handed.

                              Great news!

I'm really pulling for him to continue to do well and I hope he ends up being the QB for Philly beyond this season, if not than if he finds himself in a similar scheme somewhere else he should do pretty well.

                              2. The people in Houston screaming for Johnny Football are delusional. The guy can make some big plays but I see a lot of flaws in his game and he would be a flop in the NFL in my opinion.

If I had to pick one QB to win one game for me, then if it's a cold weather game I'm going with Rodgers and if it's in a Dome I'm taking Brees (slightly over Rodgers).

Brady and Manning would be my 3rd and 4th picks, but it's a toss up between them. Over the past over 7-8 years Brady has not been the same Golden Boy that he was when he first entered the league. And Manning isn't the same QB that was known as a choke artist during his first couple of years. I think Manning gets a bad rap because of his first couple of years, but since Brady's last Super Bowl pretty much all Manning's playoff losses have been close games. Brady's normally are too for the most part, he's had two terrible playoff ending games in '09 and '12. In the same time-span Manning hasn't had games where he has played as badly as those two games. Like I said taking one over the other in 2013 is a straight PUSH. Both are solid playoff QB's, but neither are Joe Montana.
