Why was money even brought up in regards to Jerruh? That has NEVER been in question regarding him so I'm not sure what the point was in bringing that up.

It was brought up because someone said the franchise is still extremely profitable, so why would he want to give up GM duties if that's what he wants to do; it was a tangent, if you will, about Jerry's prerogative.

That true but at the same time, what franchise isn't making any money? I mean these guys are going to make money or be profitable regardless because of the fact we love Football TOO MUCH to the point where we'll pay whatever the cost, even if it means the product isn't as good as it used to be(not saying it is, but there are people that feel that way).

            Re: NFL Off Topic

Money does have some bearing. If the consequence of an incompetent organization was lower attendance and hence lower revenues, then you have direct feedback on how the fan base views a particular team, how they're running player personnel, how they're coaching, etc.

But with the new stadium and the Cowboys tradition, it might take a couple of decades of missing the playoffs or not doing anything in the playoffs for the attendance to suffer.

Other teams don't have the same kind of margin for futility. Jerry tried to get by with less distinguished coaches for awhile before one frustrating season led him to pay Parcells.

But once Parcells made the team half respectable again, Jerry had to insist on putting his stamp on the team, namely getting players that Parcells apparently couldn't stand.

It's Jerry's team so he's entitled to do whatever he wants. If the fans don't punish the team for not winning more by not buying tickets, not watching or not buying licensed gear, etc., they are reinforcing the way the organization is run, the way the team is coached, etc.

Sure they make money, but they don't make cowboy money. The portion of that argument was; where is the incentive to stop playing GM when they are tops in the NFL in what they pull in?

Now you may say everyone makes money and I am sure that is true, but if Jerry's boys where falling somewhere into the middle of those revenue numbers I think you would see Jerry singing a very different tune.

Word has it Browner will sue the hell out of the NFL and if it doesn't reduce he is seeking aggressive compensation. I hope he takes that stubborn MF Goodell down.

What are the arguments he's going to use in his lawsuit? That he broke the rules of his employer and they punished him? Good luck with that!

I am no fan of Roger Goodell, but a three time drug loser is not going the be the one to take him down.

One is defamation. Mike Silver/NFL network incorrectly reported initially that the suspension was for PEDs rather than substance abuse, which is a big difference. Having the NFL's own media network incorrectly report results of supposed to be confidential info is a problem. That's one angle I've seen.

I don't really think it's gonna go too well for Browner. If the league gave Browner nothing, it seems to indicate that they believe their lawyers can win any legal battle that Browner comes with.

'Word' probably missed the arbitration clauses that are probably all over his player contract and the drug testing policy.

He will get nowhere, and reportedly turned down an offer to reduce this penalty by 3 months.

Doesn't matter. Ever have a cigarette at your desk at work? Or a shot? (ok at Zappos we're weird and do that last one). There are rules, they're not a secret, and he is well acquainted with them.

Doesn't matter if it is legal, if the NFL says you can't do it then you can't do it. Unless you want to pull a Ricky Williams and retire.

While I do think that it's ridiculous that failing drug tests for marijuana can get you kicked out of the league, an employer can come up with any reasonable terms of employment and enforce them. No matter what the laws of the state say about using the substance. If I cracked open a beer at my desk right now, I'm sure there would be consequences.

NFL might move Superbowl date depending on severity of snow.....lol

Why not just have a canopy covering the playing area or something.

(would obviously be much bigger than this one that was used at Metlife last year, but it's Superbowl...I'm sure they can afford to do that)
