It certainly presents some more scenarios for coaches to sort out, and gives fans more fodder to debate. Which I think are good things.

For the guys that don't want to change anything because it isn't "broken", you must have really been upset in 1994 when the 2pt conversion was adopted in the NFL? It wasn't "broken" before they changed that rule. It must seem gimmicky today every time a team goes for 2?

And as SPTO mentioned, it's a straight away kick. I don't think the difference would be as great as some people think.

At least come up with something that hasn't already been said a dozen times already.

We get it, there's been change in the past, some changes have worked some haven't. Doesn't mean this change is automatically going to be good.

How did that whole eliminate instant replay in 1992 thing work out???

I don't think anyone said that. But I find it an intriguing idea worth exploring and at least testing in the preseason. If anything, some opponents seem the think it will automatically be bad.

Without change, you wouldn't have had instant replay in the first place. I was around back in 1986, and there were almost identical debates about that. While reply is not perfect, I think the game is better with it. Perhaps that is why I am not so resistant to change. Although I certainly think that replay could be improved upon as well, but no need to go down that tangaent.

That actually would have been my first guess as well if it were a high profile name.

I don't think his mental state would allow him to formulate something like this. Though if it did, I'm sure you would have brought him back as the NFL's man of the year for 2014 too .

And this is one reason I was hesitant to post it. I actually wouldn't have known if a Lions beat writer didn't retweet it, but while a true statement, it's still highly misleading. This is why I hate Buzzfeed, Upworthy and the like.

Don't bring up the one QB since 1999 to start for Detroit that I couldn't remember on one of those sporcle quizzes.

I looked up a list of Detroit starting QBs, and he won a state championship at Odessa Permian (the year after Friday Night Lights) so I picked him.
