Re: NFL Off Topic
It's just something else the people that should be worrying about putting our favorite team together have to deal with. Do you really want your management team hopping on a plane 4 days in a row and setting up new war rooms all over the country... just so a different group of faces can boo the commissioner?
Hosting the draft in a new city for each day of the draft is ridiculous. That makes zero sense.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I actually mean hosting the draft in a new city every year. To me it doesnt matter where it is. I dont see the value in moving it every year. This isnt the superbowl where the revenue for the host city will spike dramatically if the draft is in town, nor will TV ratings fluctuate. The value of moving it every year is lost on me.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Seems like a logistical nightmare for teams and the NFL to move it each day,

Re: NFL Off Topic
If that was announced before the draft I wonder if he gets picked at all. Then again, one thing probably relied on the other to happen.
At least he'll have a reality show career to fall back on if he follows the usual trajectory of a 7th round pick.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Not a solid decision if he wants people to take him seriously (that kinda sounds bad when it comes out like that). In the sense that he wants to be a football player first and have his peers regard him as such.
Merely my opinion, it has nothing to do with his sexuality. It looks like an exploitation move from the network based on his notoriety and being the first openly gay player in the NFL. If true, he's obviously going with it.
Still rooting for him to do well and make the team. If this story is true, kinda knocks him down a bit. In my eyes anyways. Honestly if that's really happening and he's on board with the show then so be it. Just seems like an odd move, but it may be a financial one by him.
Kinda hard to say this without sounding offensive or insensitive, but hopefully you get my point.

Re: NFL Off Topic
It's not a reality show.
It's a documentary following him up to the draft and as he tries to make the team.

Re: NFL Off Topic
The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced on Wednesday that it had purchased the rights to a documentary series that will follow the life of Michael Sam. Terms were undisclosed, but sources said that negotiations to make the deal took two months.
Sam became the first openly gay man to be taken in the NFL draft when he was picked Saturday in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams.
Cameras for the network were with Sam when he received the call that he was drafted and will follow him through training camp as he tries to make the team.
The network said the working title for the series is "The Untitled Michael Sam Project."
"We are honored that Michael is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever," said Winfrey, in a statement. "I am proud of the focus on authentic storytelling in our new documentary series format. The next real-life story we follow in 'The Untitled Michael Sam Project' promises to spark valuable, important discussion on life in America today. Acceptance and illumination start here."
"If seeing my story helps somebody else accept who they are and to go for their dreams too, that's great," Sam said, in a statement. "I am thankful to Oprah for her support and excited to work together."
Sources say the plan is for the series to be broken up in to six to eight segments. His agents Cameron Weiss and Joe Barkett are producers, as is Sam's publicist Howard Bragman. The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced on Wednesday that it had purchased the rights to a documentary series that will follow the life of Michael Sam.

This is an incredibly contradictory paragraph.
It has nothing to do with his sexuality but it's an exploitation of his open sexuality?

Re: NFL Off Topic
The It has nothing to do with his sexuality should have been separate. I was trying to say that I don't like the move for him, but not related to his sexuality. The exploitation sentence, I was referring to the network.
Apologies.
