Everyone is focusing on that last play when that entire game was officiated like trash.

Re: NFL Off Topic
If I'm Ryan, I am sealing the refs exits to the stadium until they address the situation properly. I would pull out a rule book then and there. There is no excuse for them to not have gotten that addressed even while the entire crowd was celebrating a victory, no matter the improbability of the situation for them.
Officials make mistakes. Any time an umpire in a game makes a rule book mistake when I'm coaching softball, I am protesting until it is corrected. Period.
The bottom line is they need to be better. Look at the game thread. Every single person in that thread acknowledged what a bad call it was short of a homer Patriot fan and like one other person.
If an entire thread can call out that bad call immediately someone on that crew needs to step up and reverse that call immediately.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
On the Manziel topic, does anyone know if Johnny had a zero alcohol/club policy with the Browns?
If he had such a formal agreement then yes, I fully agree with the benching.
If he did not have such an agreement, then Pettine needs to get off his high horse of virtue and be a football coach.
To the issue of the game clock in last night's game, the Bills did not protest because they saw what we probably saw -- a absolutely horrible two minute drill. They probably knew one final play would not matter with a hurt QB. I suspect that after the game, today perhaps, they sent communication to the league expressing their dissatisfaction with the officiating.
That reminds me, teams cannot win, can they? Protest like the above poster suggests and you are salty whiners blaming the loss on the refs. Do it quietly and it is inexcusable.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I'm confused about this play clock situation...
I'm not defending the referees here right now, but I think the real boneheads are Rex Ryan and the entire Bills offense (incl. Watkins).

Don't know what level of softball you coach but given the compensation of professional officials ($173,000 on average), procedural errors like this and the inadvertent whistle are wildly unacceptable.Moderator

Re: NFL Off Topic
No. We are not going to blame the Bills not "protesting" that last play. You and I both know that no ref is reversing that call after the clock hit zero and teams are on the field. ANd you can't "protest" a football game the way you can baseball/softball.
The bottom line is they need to be better. Look at the game thread. Every single person in that thread acknowledged what a bad call it was short of a homer Patriot fan and like one other person.

I'm just saying I didn't see what the Bills did on their end. It looked like either they didn't try, or at the time they agreed/were okay with the call. I might have to see the play over again, but all appeared indisputable at the time. But yeah, that call needs to be made right. Pitiful, really.
Coaches coach, refs ref. You trust the people who are suppose to implement the rules to know them. Way to much going on for a coach so whip out a rule book especially during the final two minutes of a one possession game.

If it matters, highest head-coaching gig has been high school (and 18U travel ball), but I've mentored three players at SDSU as well... just not in game nor by contract heh.
No, I mean more of something like an umpire that doesn't know an obstruction issue, runners advancing on dead balls, timed plays, or time limit rules for tournament play, etc. Some that, by rule book, should be reversed. Not the "subjective calls." I let them have those haha, unless I ask for a second opinion.Last edited by Blzer; 11-24-2015, 10:47 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
You're not seeing me take my hand of blame off the refs. I just have a second hand and am saying, "Now, here's what you could have tried to do here, Buffalo...". Refs blew it. They blew it with the inadvertent whistle earlier in the game, and they blew it at the end. You see me saying the same thing in the game thread.

Like earlier this yeah when Pittsburgh had 18 seconds run off the clock, no one is keeping an eye on the clock after a stoppage, because they KNOW the clock is suppose to stop. The fact that it didn't isn't something coaches, players are really looking for. Lot different than baseball, softball where there isn't a clock perse.Last edited by N51_rob; 11-24-2015, 10:57 PM.Moderator

Almost positive the NFLPA won't allow that kind of language into contracts because it would also provide teams with just cause to attempt to recoup money from a player.Moderator

Re: NFL Off Topic
You're probably right, then.
It's just that in the midst of that exact moment where I, a Patriots fan, was yelling at the TV screen for getting the call wrong, it almost looked like the Bills agreed with the call. With that all I basically said was, "Then I guess they don't deserve to win and I offer no sympathy."
I hope that ref faces discipline though. If the NCAA refs did for the Miami game, this man should as well. This was the most watched program that night in the country, you can't just sweep that with a slap on the wrist.
(next you'll see me blaming the NFL for coddling and protecting these guys, hence the reason for his incompetency, lol kidding)Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

But what happened to STL is egregious and much worse. Jeff Fischer and even the league is acting like nobody had a clue Case Keenum was concussed when it was indubitable he should've been taken out by either the refs, team, MDs, players...somebody!Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
