Re: NFL Off Topic
I look at it the complete opposite. Unless the coverage team makes an extraordinary play you’re probably looking at a worst case scenario of starting around the 20. I’m willing to risk those five yards for an opportunity break off a big return. Granted the skill level of my returner will also be a factorComment

Yeah that’s the thing, as a Bears fan I’ve spent my life watching incompetent offenses that rely on defense and special teams to scoreComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Yeah, but all of that is the reason for independent medical professionals that answer to both the team and the union. 'Just let the team manage it' works for roster building, absolutely, but not medical decisions. Needs to be some level of transparency (at least between medical and labor) and accountability there.
I think we all saw Tua's "back injury" after the Matt Milano hit in Week 3. The independent medical system is not working well enough to put added strain on it.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

FWIW if you just squib the kick they have to return it. That may become the dominant strategy.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Understand that but if that’s the tactic being used to get it downfield far enough to actually be problematic wouldn’t they be able to just waive for the FC pretty much right away?

Re: NFL Off Topic
You can call for the fair catch right away but the second the ball touches the ground there is no more fair catchComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Gotta love unnecessary rule changes that limit game variance.
It's like a ****ing contagion.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
What reyes said.
Once the ball goes 10 yards, its live for both teams, and once it touches the ground the FC signal means nothing. They can fall on it if they want, but they would get it where the returner dropped.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
It's getting harder and harder for me to watch this game anymore tbh....this is a game I grew up watching with my Grandpa and can remember watching the greats...Staubach, Bradshaw, Tarkenton and so on....so when I see all these rule changes it takes away what attracted me to the game as a youngin'.
Throw in the ridiculous pay these players get, and it just takes that "feeling" away for me.
The pro bowl? yeah now a freakin' flag football game....sooo many great plays from great players are now (to me) a thing of the past...thanks to the "golden boy" Brady, you so much as say nasty word to a QB you get a 15 yarder...and whatever you do don't try and tackle one.
This latest rule about kickoffs is a complete joke, as has been mentioned a lot of these guys earn their way to the roster by way of special teams...hell would Terrell Davis been noticed if it wasn't for the hit he made on special teams?
What "feeling" is being taken away from players getting paid FMV?Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
If the love of the game is that strong then I feel they should play for that reason, NOT just the ridiculous amounts of money they are getting paid...
I'm sure I'll get backlash over my thoughts, but at this point I really don't care, athletes (imo) are WAY over paid...some haven't done squat in the league but yet are getting these inflated contracts...for what?People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The inflated contracts for guys who "haven't done anything" went away with the rookie cap.
TBH the NFL keeps making money hand over fist and given the choice, I'd rather that money go to the players over the owners.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment
