I'd let Rainey and Allen battle it out for the other spot, as both can be serviceable fill ins in the same situation.

No idea what he'd cost though.
Dixon is out for the year, but I get your point. Actually if Dixon was going to be back after four weeks, I wouldn't consider bringing in another back.

Mizzell looks pretty good, but he's likely to go to the PS. I think West can be a solid starter, but it's hard to judge with the line combinations we're seeing in preseason.

I think the cap situation is the biggest factor for bringing Mathews in. They had to convert some of Jimmy Smith's salary to bonus just to get where they are. Then again they did just sign Zuttah, so I guess they still have something left.

Yeah, add him to the Ochocinco's of the world who can't keep up with the Pats practices and schemes. Says a lot when he can't hang out at their weakest position.

He was never going to be able to replicate that Super Bowl performance with any consistency. He's a streaky rusher, but not consistent enough over a season to produce like people want him to.

He'll catch on somewhere and be a rotational rusher.

              Hot off the presses!

Bills trade Reggie Ragland to KC for a conditional draft pick in 2019.

EDIT: According to Breer it's a 4th round pick in 2019

                Re: 2017 Transaction Thread

This guy hasn't even played a single down and he's gone. I've heard he hasn't impressed in training camp and was being outplayed by incumbents at his natural position (MLB) and wouldn't beat out either LB at the weak or strong side. But still... I thought this guy would be DROY last season but tore his ACL. I was excited for his first year playing... no longer. I swear if he takes over for Derrick Johnson (eventually) and becomes a staple of Chiefs defenses I'll lose my mind. Plus, we spent a 2nd round pick on Ragland (great value at the time too) and flipped him just a season later for a 4th round pick, which is likely to be closer to the 5th round since KC is a damn good team.

On one hand, it's nice the Bills aren't pulling any punches and shamelessly shedding anyone not in their future plans. Sounds like Tyrod may be next, probably next offseason.

On the other hand, we've got all these new guys running the team now and we've traded all these players who never got a chance to prove themselves one way or the other. If Beane/McDermott don't get results in a few years, these times will be looked back on with anger. I'm weary of these hotshots who go to other franchises and install all "their guys" and don't put up the results. I will say, I don't think this is quite to that level as I don't see Beane or McDermott as egomaniac guys but rather fixing the toxicity that was Buffalo over the last 17 years. I don't see tons of Carolina cast offs following them up to Buffalo.

I completely agree with the 2nd part of your post there. I don't see them as necessarily egotistical guys who want their own people in there but at the same time this is a lot of upheaval. On the one hand, at least the Bills are accruing a lot of picks in the draft which is something both Beane and McDermott have said is a big priority of theirs. They will need to have results but I think ownership is solidly behind management here and there won't be some hair trigger firing of everyone if things don't go smoothly over the next 3 years. I think everyone realizes this might be more of a 5 year fix than anything else.

Seen a lot of the justification relating to the scheme change, from a 3-4 to a 4-3 in Buffalo?

Chiefs cut Muaga to make room, probably bumps Ramik Wilson on the 53 as he hasn't progressed really well.

Rams are signing Eric Dickerson to a 1-day contract so he can retire with the LA Rams.

They should have him play a series of downs in the last preseason game. He might actually have a better YPC than Gurley

Lions and Stafford agree to a 5-year deal (or extension, wasn't clear) that makes him the highest paid player in the league, according to Schefter.
