Sources: The #Eagles are trading Joe Flacco to the #Jets. With Zach Wilson out of action for a few weeks, Flacco is headed back to Florham Park.

Jets trading a conditional 6th-round pick to Philadelphia that can possibly be a 5th based on play time for QB Joe Flacco, per sources."

Will always be a Flacco fan and hope he does well.

But I don't see him winning too many games for the Jets. He's one of the better backups in the NFL and would be a great "hold it down and keep the ship from sinking" kind of guy but er...the Jets are already sinking. He is not a turn around our fortunes kind of guy

Yeah I don’t quite get burning a valuable, high 5th/6th to lose 2-3 games with a vet instead of losing 2-3 games while letting White get some PT and maybe just maybe he’ll catch some team off guard with the lack of pro film on him.

I’ve come to understand that the QB2 isn’t always the second best QB on the roster (or not on it), but doesn’t seem worth trading picks away in a season where you’re not winning anything anyway. Is White that unfit to play? And it’s a new coaching staff so Flacco returning to NYJ (where he only spent a season anyway) isn’t the same as going back to a place you’ve been for any amount of time.

Eagles turned a 6th in to a possible high 5th and upgraded their backup QB (Minshew over Flacco) in the span of 2 months. Roseman, you dog you!

Yeah, I rather seen Minshew play over Flacco anyway. Eagles will have a new QB1 next year and Minshew still has another year left. So if Hurts gets injured/benched, I'd rather see if Minshew can be the definitive QB2 next year. Don't think Playcalling/offense helped either for Hurts.
Eagles are in dire need of a influx of young talent. So anything helps lol

It might not be a bad idea for the Jets to have a veteran QB on the sideline when Wilson gets back, it doesn’t seem like they have the best coaching staff from listening to Jets fans. With that being said, I’m not sure Flacco fits the role of veteran mentor that well

From his brief time in Philly, he didn't seem like the "mentor" you wanted as QB2. He's more of the "have you looking behind your back" QB2. Not sure how many Josh McCowns there is available at this point of season.

No one is looking behind their back at Flacco at this point in his career.

I mean as far as coming in to "compete". I wouldn't put him in the Fitzpatrick category of Vet QB, but isn't a mentor. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after this year. Some teams will always be enamored by his arm

The theory I've heard is that you need a certain baseline of competence at QB to evaluate anyone else on the offense. In that sense it would be good to have a vet over a lottery ticket rookie.

That said, I don't know if Flacco has baseline competence any more.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

                      Flacco is a dependent variable.

You generally don't want that to describe your QB.

For teams being enamored with his arm, thats one of the biggest enigmas in recent memory for me. First half of his career he loved deep stuff outside the hash marks. Fellow AFC north fans know this. It seemed a good chunk of our gameplan was "throw deep to Torrey Smith, hope for DPI."

But for the past 5-6 years he has been the epitome of Captain Checkdown, making the big strong arm non-existent.

As for his suitability as a mentor, nope lol. For a QB he is amazingly introverted and laid back. It can be a plus in terms of setting an example on how to carry oneself if it wasn't for the regrettable fact that he isn't a particularly hard worker.

Absolutely loved Ingram on the Ravens and the positive locker room guy he is. Hoping he gets one more chance as a feature back.

Apparently the Panthers are now back in on Watson, and are willing to trade Christian McCaffrey, according to Jason LaCanfora.

I know CMC is loved by the Carolina fanbase, but assuming they wait until after the legal situation gets resolved its a good trade. Assuming of course that Houston would accept him in place of some draft picks as their asking price. As long as the Texans understand that they aren't getting McCaffrey and multiple high draft picks it could be a good deal for all.

Very curious to see what kind of packages would be discussed

                                Apparently it wasn’t true.

But Watson also has a no trade clause and so far, won’t waive it for anyone other than Miami.
