Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Can someone please shed a little light on this for me?
Why in the HELL would the Steelers interview the OC from Carolina when they themselves had the worst offense in the NFL last season?
Hell the combination of Sullivan and Faulkner weren't THIS bad, this guy is Matt Canada terrible all over again.
I understand it's only an interview, but with how bad the Panther offense was this is really a head scratcher.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
It wasn't Brown's fault. The personnel was so bad, Bill Walsh would've struggled to generate offense

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Yeah. I think the Rooney Rule is mostly done with good intentions. But other times, it's done to check a box or gain information. Like with the Eagles hiring Fangio. If I'm correct, they didn't really interview many candidates for DC. I know the only minority was Ron Rivera. Hell, I think he was the only defensive candidate they interviewed publicly. I want to say it was done with true intentions. But with how known Eagles interest was with Fangio for the past couple years, it feels like Rivera was just a checkmark to satisfy the Rooney Rule. It wasn't just that Fangio was a consultant to help assist the Eagles Offense(not defense) for the Superbowl. He was there in the training camp before that season. Since Gannon was hired, he was on a fast track to become a HC. It was almost a lock that he would be a HC before the SB season, so I think the natural move was to transition to Fangio, but Gannon tampering with Arizona messed up the plans lol. I get the desire for someone like Fangio. At this point in his career, he's not getting a HC(unless it's an interim job). So with him being closer to home, he'd likely coach until he's ready to retire. For some HCs, that's what you want in a coordinator. You want someone who is going to be the HC of that side of the ball, stability and consistency, and content with staying thereComment

"In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates for open head coaching positions and at least one external minority candidate for a coordinator job."

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
I had a feeling this would happen since he has ties to Eberflus, Bears are interviewing Joe Barry for DC. Nepotism at it’s finest, this guy is the Brian Schottenheimer of defensive coaches.Comment

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Packers first interview for their DC Opening is former Chargers’ HC Brandon Staley.
Interviewing him is cool.
Hiring him though…nope.#RespectTheCultureComment

Mans might turn the Chargers around real quick.
They got some good talent on that Defense too.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
They have talent on both sides, Mack was playing prime version of himself. I definitely think they can be a playoff team next yearComment

Bears hire Eric Washington from Buffalo as DC. I wanted anyone but Joe Barry so I like the hireComment

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread
Wow, as an Eagles fan, I didn't expect them to land him. I definitely see him calling the plays and Sirrani being less hands on. I felt that the OC hiring would determine how hands on or off Sirrani would be. A less experienced OC, I would've expected a similar situation to last year where it would've been Sirrani's offense with the OC calling plays. With Moore, I would expect his offense.
Eagles were last in pre-snap motion, the Chargers were 6th. I do think the Eagles Pass O should take a leap if they get away from the RPO heavy offense. Eagles relied too much on it and with Hurts not being a run threat it really hampered the offense when defenses knew he wasn't going to run.
I always thought Moore would end up in College Football as a HC. But, I do like the coordinator hires for the Eagles in Moore and Fangio. One thing I never liked sine Sirrani has been there was that he would lean towards inexperienced guys. There would do wide net searches, but always ended up with guys with limited experience on both sides. Having more of a veteran established should help the Eagles.
