    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

I've never been in Orton's corner, but to be honest, I was shocked at how poorly he played. I really thought going into the season he was going to have a decent year, and perhaps even put the Broncos in a situation where they have a difficult decision to make. I don't think there is any question that he won't be back now.

I thought in the beginning of the season Orton was saying that he didn't care what the fans thought and the last goal on his list was winning the fans over? I could be wrong, but that's what I remember - mostly because it bothered me.

So Lloyd's gone.... I hate to see him go because I enjoyed watching him play for the Broncos, but I am actually glad Denver did this. Now Denver will get a much needed draft pick in return instead of getting nothing, which is what they would have received if they would have kept him for the remainder of the year. Lloyd wasn't coming back.

Plus, Lloyd asked to be moved. If you don't want to be a Bronco...get out. Same with you, Royal.

Funny thing about Royal is he was drafted to be a returner. Props to him for earning his way into the lineup but he didn't have THAT much success to seem to relax like he has. As an outsider I'm just assuming he's relaxed but his production has certainly dropped. Either way, I will criticize a guy demanding a trade only a short time removed from being drafted as a returner, having a 3rd HC come in (the one that originally loved him is long gone) and having not produced much. Gotta agree... GTFO.

Not sure what the story is with Royal. But who the heck is going to trade for a WR who was injured all year this season and has had mediocre production the past two years? Eddie Royal needs to focus on catching the ball when he's wide open and proving to the league that his rookie year wasn't a flash in the pan.

Also, I have NO hard feelings towards Brandon Lloyd. This is also a business, and I understand when people need a change. It's not like the Broncos made a major move to get him signed to a long term deal either. Lloyd said nothing but good things about Denver, the Broncos, and the fans. I HATE these fans who boo former players just because they moved teams. Jonsco, give them a break. It's flat-out classless otherwise. I hate that fans boo'd Rob Blake just because he wanted to move back to LA. BOO F'n HOO.

I think you may have misinterpreted what I was saying. Maybe it sounds harsh, but I want guys on the roster that want to be Broncos. I realize it's a business and I never said I would 'boo' him. I don't know how you associate what I said with that.

I don't have any ill will toward Brandon Lloyd. I heard his ESPN interview. I think he's a good receiver and he sounds like an overall good guy, but if he thinks it's time for him to move on and Denver has no intention of signing him to a long term deal, than he's got to go. It turned out to be a win-win situation, although I do think Lloyd would have really helped Tebow out.

Regarding Royal....I don't know his situation even a little bit, but if he is not happy being a Bronco enough to where he would ask for a trade, it's hard for me to think any other way.

I am a fan of the Broncos before ANY player. I'm interested in what's best for the team. Players come and go, and for the most part they are primarily concerned with only themselves. I don't fault nor blame them for that. As much as I like hearing Tebow say that he is honored to play for the Broncos, I know he would say the same thing about any other team if he was traded tomorrow.

I'd never thought I'd say that I was excited to watch a 1-4 team play, but I am. It will be nice to see what Tebow and company can do tomorrow. It still amazes me the amount of venom that is out there regarding that guy.

Here's hoping Fox let's Tebow be Tebow....

Tebow played about how I expected... wish it was a bit better than that considering the match up, the comfort for a road game, etc, etc. Unfortunately Orton played about how some of you guys expected too. I'd say at the end of the day the Broncos got a win and the future of the QB spot has as many questions as it did before. Hopefully Thomas can get more involved going forward... and Moreno can step up with McGahee's injury. I didn't hear too much about it. Does it seem like he's going to be out for a while?

Yesterday's game didn't answer any questions about Denver's QB situation. Yeah, it was amazing to watch, but there is no mistaking that Tebow has plenty of room to grow. Through 3-3/4 quarters, it may well have been the worst offensive performance I have ever seen from Denver. It was weird, because they were able to run the ball, but the 3rd down conversions were abysmal (both sides). It was embarrassing. It seems Tebow is at his best when he just plays; simply reacting...not thinking. I don't know how far that will carry him. For now, I'll hang on to believing that he will improve in the other areas. Denver just needs to stick with him this year in order to have a full body of work to evaluate him.

I haven't heard anything about how bad McGahee is hurt. I know he is seeing a hand specialist today. It sounds like it may be similar to what D. Thomas suffered, which would mean he'll miss some considerable time.

                        Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

What you saw for 55 minutes was John Fox protecting Tim Tebow. In Florida, with fans, and Urban Meyer (plus the 2008 Gators alumni) on the side lines, it could've easily been too much emotion for Tebow. Fox, knowing the Miami offense is horrible, knows he can win the game with field goals. And had Prater not missed two field goals (very uncharacteristic of him this year), that would've been a different ball game. That's a good 20 yards + of extra field that Miami would've needed to cover for each missed field goal.

So for John Fox, it was about keeping Tebow under wraps. And moreover, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if Fox had told Tebow "don't throw picks. If you're not sure, run." No need to give the game to Miami, they're bad enough. It wasn't until the very end when Tebow starting slinging the ball. Why? There's nothing left to lose! Tebow didn't have to be careful, he just had to go out and play ball. Hence why he threw that pass to Daniel Fells in a TIGHT window. He was allowed to do so. And then, once we got into overtime, Fox reverted right back to careful mode.

Yeah, Tebow needs to dial in the accuracy. He needs to be quicker on the reads. But I HOPE John Fox works on allowing Tim Tebow a bit more flexibility in the passing game.

The best thing John Fox can do is just let Tebow play. Let him throw those picks, let him learn the hard way. If Tebow doesn't throw the ball, he's not going to learn how defenders react to the ball. Watching the Vikings/Packers game, Troy Aikman said it right after Christian Ponder threw some picks. He mentioned how Ponder will learn the relationship of receiver to defender and understand how to make those throws. Tebow isn't going to learn if those mistakes aren't on film, in a game situation, for him to study and learn from. Coach Fox needs to let Tebow play ball.

McGahee's hand is broken, but I haven't heard of any time table of missed time. I will say that I thought Moreno and Lance Ball did a nice job of picking up the slack. Moreno, finally, displayed some vision and eluded some tacklers.

No offense, but I'm sure the correlation between Tebows success and the prevent D is the reason.

Not saying Tebow still didn't have to make accurate throws, but I never understand why DC do it. Prevent D is the worst!

If thats the reason then why isn't there more 2-score comebacks every week?

I don't know of too many teams that play prevent defense with 5 minutes left to go in a 15 - 0 game. Moreover, having watched the game, I can say that you're off the mark on that assumption.

Teams do move the ball A LOT in those situations. What doesn't usually happen is recovering an onside kick and having to worry about a QB running as much. I don't think I would say the prevent allowed Tebow to look good in the clutch, but I do think Tebow's got a long way to go to produce against more complex blitzing defenses like what was played earlier in the game. Any young QB should be expected to struggle there though... his was just extra special (may be Fox's gameplan with him too).
