Interesting...it would be a nice safety net for Tebow to have him. I have ZERO confidence in Quinn/Weber should Tebow get hurt or struggle."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

He is on waivers so Bears would have to claim him. Now I honestly don't see Orton in Chicago for the simple reason when he was there before he was not in Mike Martz system. If I recall correctly Martz came on right after Orton went to Denver.
I still say Bears try to weather storm with Hanie like the Packers did with Flynn last year. I think Flynn is a better QB but don't see Bears reaching out to anyone that hasn't played in Martz's complex system.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Not a big deal to me. Orton was a forgotten man on the bench anyways. Orton isn't going to help Tebow with his option reads, so this is little more than a service to Orton to allow him to find a team now.
Now, if the Broncos announce Weber signed from the practice squad, THAT is talk-worthy.
And just because I'm a CSU fan, I have to root for Caleb Hanie.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Orton has been done in Denver for the past month, but I am glad he has finally moved on. I didn't like him as Denver's QB, but I wish him well on his future endeavors...except when he faces Denver, then I hope he's in the middle of a Doom and Miller sandwich.
I can just see Denver needing that game against the Chiefs to get into the playoffs, only to have Orton plays the game of his life and knock them out. What a nightmare that would be.
I hope that game means something, but I have my doubts. I have a bad feeling about Sunday. I think a 7-9 or 8-8 finish is realistic. Beat San Diego, and who knows...Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Peter King pointed out a scary stat: Excluding the Oakland game, in every game that Tebow has started the Broncos DO NOT have a touchdown in the first 3 quarters (37 possessions). I knew they had struggled, but that's just...wow. That will have to change on Sunday or they will lose to San Diego."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
The Broncos' offense MUST bring a new wrinkle that involves passing in order to keep the Chargers honest. It doesn't have to be many throws, or even deep throws, just something that makes the Chargers' defense question stacking the box.
Edit: As a side note, I'm rather tired of these Tebow-only fans posing as Broncos fans and lambasting John Elway just because Elway doesn't gush over him.Last edited by Broncos86; 11-25-2011, 09:57 AM.Comment

Question: Why do Tebow cynics judge him as if he can't improve his game in the pocket as a pure QB? Of course it's not going to happen overnight, but this guy has a great work ethic and he can get better. There is no denying the fact Tebow has made the Broncos a better football team, regardless of the means by which he has done so. The team is playing with energy and intensity it did not have before. I have not watched every Broncos game this season, but I've seen enough of them (four-five and parts of the others) that I feel I've seen enough of the team to know Tebow has been an upgrade based on his intangibles and mobility. This is not Tebow's ceiling. That's all I'm saying.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

I have a feeling he is going to have a break-out passing game soon.Comment

Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread
Tebow made strides today. He made throws in tight windows. If it weren't for a couple drops, his stats would look better. But by and large, Tebow looked much better today.
And right on time, because the option is dead. It's time to start trusting this kid with some more passes. He needs to make some quicker reads, but his passes were largely good choices and he put the ball where he needed to. Some of those throws made me say "wow."
The defense was awesome, and again kept the Broncos in this game and created great field position for the offense. Dumervil and Miller are really starting to shine. It was obvious that Rivers was feeling the pressure.Comment
