    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Honestly, I don't think there's too much left to say. We know the Broncos. If the Broncos execute, they win. That's all there is to it. If the Broncos do their thing and fire on all cylinders, there is not a team that can stay with them and beat them. Especially since our defense has decided to get hot at the right moment.

But as we all know, this Broncos team has been its own worst enemy. Penalties, fumbles, dropped passes, and some bad luck (injuries) have held this team back. That's why it's so difficult to say. Because we all know that the Broncos are the best team in the league. It's just a question of consistency, and that's impossible to determine. Going into last game, I was so iffy on things. But as the game stabilized and I realized the Broncos had brought the right game to the field that day, I relaxed and just enjoyed the show.

I think you nailed it. It is completely about Denver beating themselves. So, it is difficult to really say anything more about this game.

I'm trying not to overthink things because that's what people generally do with two weeks between games.I could try to find reasons to be optimistic and to be worried but I'm trying my best to refrain from those thoughts because gameday can bring anything.I hope we see four quarters though because that's what it'll take.Stay away from turnovers and don't allow the big plays which includes kick returns.

I think as long as the offense can move the ball and put some points up they will be ok. I don't think Seattles offense can put up to many points the way the Denver defense has been playing. Hopefully the defense has one more great game in them.

Somewhere in this thread like 2 months ago I posted a long rant about my issues with the Broncos this season and I said why I knew they weren't going to win the Super Bowl this year.

I feel this game validated all those feelings I had.

                    Re: Official Denver Broncos Thread

Defense played fine. They kept us in the game, limited the run, and pressured Russell. They kept the game close for a while and gave our offense a chance. The offensive line was exposed, and we knew it was weakened by injuries. Manning had done much to bandaid it. The whole game came down to the offensive line not being able to give Manning any real time to throw. Manning rushed, threw bad passes, or had his arm hit during the throw. The Seattle secondary DARED Manning to throw deep. They knew he couldn't because he wasn't getting the time. The Broncos' attempts to slow the pass rush with screens didn't work because the secondary was on the line the whole time, playing man coverage.

That's really what it came down to, IMO. I don't think we adjusted very well. I was surprised that we weren't in more protection packages and looking to give Peyton time. We kept trying to spread the Seahawks. 5 on 4, our offensive line loses. The Seahawks did a great job of forcing quick passes to check downs, then making the tackle or disrupting the pass entirely. The pressure made double moves impossible, enabling Seattle's secondary to jump short routes.

If I had to put my finger on whose fault it was, I'd say coaching. Terrible decisions with special teams, bad decisions on offense. Really hard to blame the defense when our offense was turning the ball over regularly, and only put up 8 points. I'm really surprised by the play-calling, despite the obvious struggles of the offensive line. And our special teams. Watching that second half kick return was a kick in the nuts for everyone. It took away anything we might've had left.

Not a fan of the Talib signing. Maybe it's just me but I don't think he was worth that contract. Worry this one could be a huge mistake.

I like all three signings.I know what you mean to some extent with Talib but considering that Shields,Verner and Vontae Davis got around the same money.I'd rather give him that kind of money than those guys.DRC was good last year but must've been trying to get too much and really played better than he had in past seasons. At least Talib has been playing at a good level for pretty much his whole career as opposed to the other corners who pretty much are banking off of last year.

This part of the article stood out to me the most

At cornerback, the Broncos first tried to re-sign Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who was their best cover corner last season. Their offer was well north of $7 million a year. But two other cornerbacks, Green Bay's Sam Shields and Indianapolis' Vontae Davis, each re-signed with their teams for $39 million over four years — an average of $9.75 million.

For that money, the Broncos figured they could aim higher. In Talib, the Broncos have a corner who can not only cover, but play with a much greater physical style that Denver now prefers in its cornerbacks.

Those two end-arounds Seattle's Percy Harvin ran for big gains in the Super Bowl? It was no coincidence they were run towards Rodgers-
                          Cromartie's side.

With a $57 million contract over six years, the Broncos got Talib for $9.5 million a year — less than the average deals for Shields or Davis.

At the initial hearing of the news, wasn't a fan or more of just a skeptic. If his hip or whatever ailment isn't an issue, I'm fine. I got tired of the corners playing 10 yards off instead of stepping up on the line and going hands on.

A stat that I do like from Talib, he gets interceptions.

Oh and I think that DRC was little "off". His retirement stuff could have raised concerns to the Broncos and also his negative post-Super Bowl comments stood out to me the most.

Ball out performed my prediction slightly, but I definitely was very close.

Just a friendly, "I told you so." Re-visiting this board almost a year later made me remember how the butthurt flew when I made this prediction.

Surely, Ball was going off for 1,000.
