    Re: Washington Redskins Official Thread

I agree with all that have said this....The only good that could come from this season, for the future, and the only way for Mr. Snyder to gain any respect from the fans for years of the same thing...is as soon as the season is over...

He hire a competent GM. Not someone who does radio shows. Not someone who moonlights as a TV analyst. Not someone who is ever out in the public. I want this GM to be watching College Games, and NFL Game, ALL THE TIME....and evaluating talent and raising the level of talent on this team. I don't want to see him ever outside of our own games or scouting other games. Once that GM is picked, LET THE GM DECIDE ON THE COACH. Its not for Snyder to pick...its for the GM to pick.

Let these two individual work together in putting our team and glory back together. All that Snyder is needed for is for his signature and he can play director of marketing to his hearts content.

This...and only this will ever make up for the disaster that has been our franchise since the last superbowl and since the Danny has bought the team. Anything outside of this scenario is more of the same.
I drink to make other people interesting.

Honestly at this point we should just give Mike Leach 6 million to coach this year.

That's really the only way we're going to start scoring.

We're averaging under 70 YPG by our backs and they're averaging 3.9 and 2 YPC.

Let Campbell line up in the shot gun with Cooley, Moss, ARE, Thomas/Kelly/Mitchel every play. Between the increased passing and Campbell's scrambles, we may even improve our rushing game too.

My guess is Moss would be having a career year and Jackson wouldn't be getting enough looks.

And before JBH3 goes off on me, I'd take Jackson over Moss right now but probably only bc of his age. When Moss was his age he was just as dangerous in the passing game and returning kicks. Now he's got a name, is short and getting constant double teams and is in a system that doesn't take many chances.
It wouldn't have been horrible at all considering we picked Devin Thomas before we picked Malcolm Kelly so we could have still gotten Dasean & Malcolm. Everyone knew we needed a PR just as bad as WR and he would have filled both roles. How the situation would have played out is beside the fact but Dasean was a huge recruit coming out HS, a stud at Cal, and a steal for where he went.

I don't doubt that at all.

Like I was saying in that best 5 RB thread Professa started, CP is done as a lead back. His legs are gone and have been since the midway point last year. He was too small to take the punishment, so he beefed up and lost all of his explosiveness. What I don't understand is how did he lose his vision too. Maybe he doesn't trust his legs to make the cutbacks he used to in Denver but when he gets into the 2nd level (which is rare these days) he isn't a threat anymore.

Sounds like what got Ramsey smashed and screwed up in the head. I do think it'd work though... Spurrier took it way too far. But you gotta wonder if the young guys are just that far from up to speed.

Jackson was expected to be a beast... and it appears he is. But he also looked exactly like Santana Moss coming out, so unless the plan was to dump Moss, it wouldn't have been a good pick... especially with mini Moss (ARE) already on the team and carrying a fat paycheck. Thomas and Kelly were also studs coming out so looking at all 3 before the draft, and considering the type of WR the team needed, they made the right choice.

I don't deny that Jackson looks like the better pick at this point, but without knowing what we know right now, they made the right choice.

Seems like Horton has been benched. and Reed is taking his spot. Also looks like Blatche finally took the blame for the way the defense was playing.

Blache takes responsbility for defensive woes, shakes up lineup
            Oct. 1, 2009 1:11 pm
Defensive coordinator Greg Blache just held an intense media session during which he accepted blame for the defense's woes and offered the strongest indictment of this team that we've heard from any of the leaders around here.
Frankly, it was a bit refreshing, especially because his comments were unsolicited.
"Quite candidly, in 2009, things go bad, somebody has got to go under the bus," Blache said. "Being the leader of this defense, I should be under the bus. I'll dive under it. If somebody wants to throw me, I'll dive under. Going under the bus, you get your feelings hurt a little bit, and at worst you might end up with skid marks on both sides of your shorts."
            Why him?

"Because I'm the leader," he said. "And quite honestly, if the calls aren't that good, that's my fault. If the players don't play with detail, that's my fault-because it all comes back to coaching. If we didn't have talent, then you'd say, ‘Well, it's a talent issue.' We have talent."
Blache believes he has to be "a little bit more of a maverick; not necessarily a McCain-Palin maverick but a Bret or Bart Maverick." (aside: the second part of that is a TV reference I had to look up) Blache went on to say that he wants to take the approach of a "riverboat gambler."
Blache took things a step further by shaking up his starting lineup. He'll start Reed Doughty at strong safety instead of Chris Horton this week.

I personally like Horton better than Doughty, but hopefully this will help the defense somehow.

I agree but i think it will help refocus/motivate horton. Doughty does play well so im not worried, but i would rather have horton.

How does everyone feel about hall? I feel like he got his paycheck and is slacking off again.

Hall is definitely a slacker. He takes lousy angles and his coverage is whack.

I think Hall didn't play bad last game against the Lions. You didn't hear his name which is a good thing. They were picking on Smoot and Rogers
