    Re: Washington Redskins Official Thread

Just happy the skins are back. I fully expect this to be another long season for the fans of this franchise. For as pissed as I was about last season, I honestly think that there is a very good young foundation there for this team to be competitive into the future.

If Denver let's Orton go, bring him in to compete? Yay or Nay.

Denver isn't letting Orton go. He's under contract. They're just entertaining trade offers for him.

            Checkmate you got your wish.

Adam Schefter reports via Twitter that the Redskins have agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Santana Moss. Adam tweets that it'll be a "3-yr deal for $15 million with $5 million signing bonus and $6 million guaranteed.

Makes sense. Moss wanted to stay and the Redskins wanted to keep him. What we don't know is whether this means the Redskins still plan to follow through on their plans to pursue Jets receivers Santonio Holmes and/or Braylon Edwards. The Star-Ledger is reporting that the Jets have already made an offer to Holmes, but the news of Washington's interest leaked out a few days ago, so Holmes knows he might get a big Dan Snyder offer to compete with whatever the Jets are offering.

The Redskins surely can use the help at receiver. John Beck and/or Rex Grossman is going to need all the help he can get as the starting quarterback this season. Holmes would be a clear No. 1 ahead of Moss and a major upgrade over what the Redskins had at the position last season. And Edwards would be the big-bodied downfield target that Anthony Armstrong kind of was and kind of wasn't last season.

I really like Moss, but he's not a number 1 anymore. He's useless in the red zone. Hopefully the Skins aren't finished upgrading the wide out position.

My boy Santana Man is back as a Skin..he wanted to come badly and glad we re-signed him..Hopefully some this year we throw him in the slow with Hank and Kelly on the sides..I think we going 6 strong at WR...we sure do have a lot of them.

                  Moss
                  Hankerson
                  Kelly
                  Robinson
                  Austin
                  Armstrong
                  Paul
                  Banks

                  feel like i'm missing somebody...

If we had a decent QB, I wouldn't mind going for Santanio or Rice to line up with Moss, but we don't..so I rather have the youngsters come in and see what they can do.

Barry Coefield, DT from the G-men, signed with the Skins. Six year deal, but I'm not sure what the $ numbers are.

My thoughts exactly (and was thinking Checkmate got his wish too, ha ha). They also signed Stallworth which I really don't understand. I don't know what the deal was with him last year. Rumor is the Ravens didn't trust his hands but I feel like he didn't get a chance in an area where they really could've used him. I like the guy and think his issue has been more health than lack of talent, but I feel like he's another guy that would be in the Moss role so it's a bit baffling.

Holmes just inked with the Jets too so it looks like this may be what the Skins role with. That was my biggest issue with resigning Moss, but the Stallworth signing is really what's strange. With that said, I can still see them making a play for Plexiglass, Rice or Jones.

Also, almost forgot to mention... McNabb agreed to a trade to the Vikings for two 6th round picks.

I already know that this season will be a lost cause, but I just don't want them screwing up the future by wasting money or making bad personnal decisions.

Not only that, but these receivers counter, what Big Shanny has liked, and what his son had success with in Houston. Jsong hit it on the head, this is a rebuilding season right here. 12 draft picks if they all make the 53 that is 23% of the roster. I just hope that the FA moved they make bring in guys that want to play football.

The skins really need to get away from paying guys for what they did for other teams, that has killed this roster. What guys on the roster have been developed by the redskins. McIntosh, Landry, Los Rodgers (UFA), Heyer, Cooley. Those are off the top of my head, we need to develop our own talent.

                                Got him for Jeremy Jarmon.

The article I was reading about this trade mentioned interest in Braylon Edwards.
