So Simms gets cut. Who's Idzik bringing in for the 3rd QB spot?

I was wrong about the draft picks as he's keeping all but 2 of the 12.

I think George will be a player and able to take over for Harris one day. Ik I like as well.

I still stand by my point that he played it too tight to the vest in free agency though.

And Terrelle Pryor simply would not work in Marty's system.

      Real headscratcher.

36 year old Champ Bailey out there. Idzik will probably call his agent and offer the vet's minimum

After the way Hill's agent ripped them, no way.

Besides, there are much better WRs out there to develop than Hill.

Pretty sure Idzik just stashed George to pick him up later.

Enuwa might be done because Powell is more versatile as a KR.

This bottom depth chart shuffling is weird.

Idzik reminds me of those guys in the Madden forums who make cheat sheets about Madden's fictitious draft classes.

He seems locked in on college prospects moreso than FAs.

I guess his approach is "Rome wasn't built in a day".

Big numbers for JJ Watt. Can we just pay Mo now since the bar has been set.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- So now we know why Stephen Hill was cut by the New York Jets after only two seasons.Dropped passes? No.Lack of production? No.

Glad we got rid of this guy

Top of your head, who is the highest-paid player on the team?

              Spoiler

              I never would've guessed it.

And yeah, we're $24M under the cap.

Didn't see the majority of the Bears game.

Turned it off when Marty called a Geno draw at the goal line.

This is what happens when the head coach defers total control to assistant coaches.

Rex has a philosiphy that he stubbornly believes in. That's pounding the ball. If he's the head coach...he should stick with it until it fails.

Marty Ball is flash for the sake of flash.

It's Vick trick plays, airing it out deep to mediocre WRs and trying to make Sportscenter.

I blame Rex for allowing it to happen for so long.

A few years ago, we had some assistant defensive coach calling all the plays and we were getting killed. Rex took over halfway through the season and things turned around.

He needs to sit in the offensive meetings and tell Marty that he needs to scale it back. The run game can't be ignored in order to make Geno something that he's not as of yet.

Another thing I noticed is that Geno drops back a good 10 yards on pass attempts.

                  1. This gives the defense a better chance (more time) to get to his pass and
                  2. It's why we also end up like 3rd & 22 when he Eventually gets sacked.

                    Cut WR Saunders
                    Signed WR Graham
                    Signed WR Owusu
                    Cut CB Lewis

                    Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Idzik sold the fanbase on building the team through the draft and patience.

This is a joke though when you're sitting on $21M.

Shame Rex is gonna get the axe because the players love him but that Win/Loss record at the end of the year is gonna be his downfall.

Re: Official New York Jets Thread

I got banned from jets IG for my thoughts. But last year I was harping on the jets to lose games. Yes to lose. Middle of the road in sports is the death of a franchise. I like the pryor pick but we could have used a corner for rex defense.

I'm actually glad the jets aren't spending this money for the sake of spending money. In any sport flexibility is key.

Rex is going to get fired because he can't run an offense and is too stubborn not to blitz every third down.

The jets have developed zero offensive talent in the past six years. If defense wins championships, offense gets you to the playoffs?

I don't know who the next head coach is. But it's time to turn the page.

But Idzik should have spent SOME of that loot to improve the secondary. You know Rex is steaming over that.

I agree. It seems like Idzik and co. Are going to move away from rex win or lose. They next few games on quarterbacks row will put us in too much of a hole. Like I've been harping before last year was the season to throw it all away...

No excuse for Geno missing ANY team meeting. You can't have that from your QB. Rex should have benched him from the start. If I was his teammate, I'd be ticked off.

Confused about the west coast time? Please. It's not saying much about his brainpower. I'd be embarrassed to admit that in public.

I am thinking this is the beginning of the end of the jets season. Too much off the field crap. I'm glad Vick didn't put a single point on the board Sunday. In a way I feel like he protected geno. Geno needs to get together. Hodge already ripped him for being inconsistent at WVU and now for the jets. If this is true the jets are doomed. Again. Why can't we get this right?

Also anyone feel like the jets should have taken that west side stadium deal? I do. Imagine using the subway to get to the games? Would have been the biggest game in town. I can't understand why the organization lacks so much foresight?

In 2010-11, the Jets were a legit 11-5, having advanced to their second straight AFC championship game. But the front office, in typical Jet fashion, outsmarted themselves. They allowed the talent around Sanchez to deteriorate, specifically the O-line, which was one of the best in the league. They did a horrible job of providing Sanchez with a good support system, changing offensive coordinators, bringing in knuckleheads like Holmes, bad draft picks, losing the locker room leaders Sanchez had his first two years and the Tebow disaster, which was all about marketing, IMO. They did everything ***-backwards, culminating with firing Tannenbaum but keeping Rex. You either fire them together or keep them for one more year. Right now Rex is dead-coach-walking, because every GM wants his own guy.

The west side deal was never happening, because of political pressure from the folks who live there and the Dolans. I'm glad it didn't - the Jets belong in Flushing, where their fan base is(Queens & Long Island). Woody should have partnered with the Mets and built a football stadium next to Citi Field. That would have been friggin' awesome for the fans, bringing the Jets back home. But for whatever reason (ego?), he kept pushing the west side stadium.
