Based on who they're interviewing, who are your preferences for GM & HC?

    For me:
    GM- Mike Maccagnan (Texans)
    HC- Gary Kubiak (Ravens)

I think of the guys they mentioned I would like Chris Ballard from the Chiefs for the GM job but apparently he is going to the Bears. Of the coaches I like Kubiak too, OC with HC experience. I'm not sure it matters though because it looks like its going to be Mike Maccagnan/Doug Marrone though. They are close friends. And they are also close with Charlie Casserly. If nothing at least the 2 of them will work together. Either that or we will have a Jason Kidd/Lawrence Frank situation on our hands.

I like Maccagnan because we desperately need a personnel guy. He has nailed it in HOU. We need a guy who can find talent. I'm still sick that Bradway is still in the organization.

I actually am not that fond of Kubiak but I feel we need a guy whose been there before. We'll have an easy schedule next year, tons of cap room, a high draft pick, a bunch of 1st rounders on defense and an experienced offense.

Too many times teams want to strike lightning with a hotshot college coach or think that an assistant coach will get them wins.

But experience means a lot and Kubiak has it. He flamed out in Houston but how far was Schaub really going to take them?

Sounds good to me, I don't know much about any of the candidates, but definitely the right move going with a personnel guy this time around.

Whiffing on every single WR in this past draft was a sure sign that Idzik and our scouts can't identify talent.

I think Macc will shore up our patchwork OL and we'll have a more balanced roster.

Looks like Bowles will be the HC.

VERY curious who he sees as an OC.

I like Kyle Shanahan who was rumored to be Quinn's choice. Kyle is like a younger version of Kubiak with that zone blocking scheme but we'll see.

Bowles looks like a good hire. I thought Quinn was the guy but I didn't receive Bowles had connections to Charlie Casserly and Ron Wolf. Seems like this gm/coach combo was probably the most logical the entire time. If that's true hopefully they will be on the same page. I'm assuming Casserly will remain involved in the organization in some capacity as well.

Re: Official New York Jets Thread

With the Combine and Free Agency right around the corner, what are you guys looking for?

Every mock it seems has us taking Mariota. I'm against it because I feel we have so many holes and I don't think he'd be better than Geno right now. Maybe in 2-3 years but definitely not for next season. I also think he'll be injury prone as he looks really frail to me.

I wouldn't mind trading down a spot or 2 to some desperate team.

I was very high on WR Amari Cooper. But I think Oakland will nab him.

I want either WR Kevin White of WVU or OG Brandon Scherff of Iowa State with our first pick.

I think White may have more upside than Cooper and I honestly think Scherff has All-Pro potential. He is just a menace.

Maccagnan always had solid OLs and DLs in Houston so I wouldn't be mad at all if we addressed it because Brian Winters shouldn't be a starter and Willie Colon shouldn't be brought back.

Later in the draft I'd like us to get HB David Johnson of Northern Iowa or HB Jeremy Langford of Michigan State. I was really impressed with Johnson at the Senior Bowl.

In Free Agency, I hope we get OG Mike Iupati who was on the 49ers.

We need CB, ILB, OLB and Safety.

Wouldn't mind seeing Cromartie back. I thought he was done but he proved me wrong.

                    Thoughts?

                      Maccagnan wants David Harris back.

I like Harris but I was hoping we move on. He can still tackle but I feel we need to get younger and faster at ILB.

I'm not mad if we re-sign him because he can still be effective and we can keep him away from Buffalo (division). I was just hoping we move on.

Pace and Harris are too old and slow IMO.

I also felt we should've never switched Coples to OLB.

                        Day 1 of the Combine

                        I missed the OL.

For TEs, I like Clive Walford from Miami. He'll be a high pick and we have Amaro so TE is not a need.

But I liked Wes Sexton from South Alabama.

I honestly never watched him at Louisville. I didn't like what I saw from him at the Combine.

I thought he coasted through the drills. Like he was just lackadaisical.

Kevin White is just a man. He's my #1. Even over Amari.

I thought Bryce Petty looked good but he looked terrible in the Senior Bowl when there was a pass rush in his face.

                          Mariota didn't wow me.

If Gailey is running a Spread offense, why get rid of Geno? I thought Marty's system was too complicated for him especially with no WRs.

Just logging down guys who I haven't seen play but impressed/intrigued me.

                            WR Jaelen Strong (ASU)
                            DB Jalen Collins (LSU)
                            DB Doran Gray (Ohio State)
                            DB Josh Shaw (USC)
                            DB Eric Rowe (Utah)

I definitely don't think the Jets go with Mariota if he's there at 6. They gotta put up a smokescreen though to entice someone to trade up. I just don't see how Mariota would make us better this year or even next year.

And the Jets better not pick a defensive player in the 1st round. I don't care if Tre Waynes is there which he will be. We've spent the past how many drafts going defense.

The DBs are deep but not too many starters out there.

                            I say-
                            Round 1- WR
                            Round 2- CB
                            Round 3- OLB
                            Round 4- OL
                            Round 5- HB
                            Round 7- OL

                            EDIT:

                            WR Breshard Perriman (UCF)

I read Spiller turned down $4.8M from the Bills.

Obviously we have money to burn but anything around that $5M/yr range for Spiller makes me leery. Good back for what we need (2nd back, change of pace, knows Gailey's system, can return kicks) but he's never healthy.

I've always liked Bilal Powell but I guess you can say he's a slight upgrade.

If Spiller's asking price is too high, I'm totally fine re-signing Powell and using our 5th rounder to get a decent back.

Word is Brandon Marshall if cut will give us a look. Bowles was on the Dolphins coaching staff when Marshall was there.

Head case but I'd rather pay Marshall than Harvin.

We could then use our 1st rounder on defense. I'd trade down a few slots to grab Waynes and get a 6th rounder back.

What do we think of Revis returning? Personally I'm thrilled, as I started supporting the Jets in 2012 but I only had access to watch the games last year so I never got to watch him play. Also, when he left in 2013 I bought his limited jersey for £27 plus shipping and import!

Anyway, back to football. I think the signing coupled with Skrine and potentially Cro elevates our secondary substantially higher than last year. If we get a free safety to allow Pryor to go back to his normal position this could be a top 5 defence, well, top 10 at least. Also having Revis could speed up the development of Milliner and McDougle because they have arguably the best in the game to emulate daily.
