They did a horrible job of providing Sanchez with a good support system, changing offensive coordinators, bringing in knuckleheads like Holmes, bad draft picks, losing the locker room leaders Sanchez had his first two years and the Tebow disaster, which was all about marketing, IMO. They did everything ***-backwards, culminating with firing Tannenbaum but keeping Rex. You either fire them together or keep them for one more year. Right now Rex is dead-coach-walking, because every GM wants his own guy.

The west side deal was never happening, because of political pressure from the folks who live there and the Dolans. I'm glad it didn't - the Jets belong in Flushing, where their fan base is(Queens & Long Island). Woody should have partnered with the Mets and built a football stadium next to Citi Field. That would have been friggin' awesome for the fans, bringing the Jets back home. But for whatever reason (ego?), he kept pushing the west side stadium.
You my friend are an intelligent jets fan and are a realist. I wish I knew more jets fans like yourself.

I would LOVE the jets in queens. But the Westside is where the money is at. That place would have been a cash cow.

I have in my life see an offense that lacked so much speed. Yes stephen hill couldn't catch (three years in run based system didn't help [Georgia Tech]) then joins that system in thé pros.

Year after year I watch the jets pass on play makers. Guys with speed to take the top off give route runners room to operate underneath. We draft Amaro where are the twin te sets?

where is the speed on defense? Seattle has 3 linebackers who are pure athletes. Why didn't use the 12 picks to get those guys? What's the point of having 12 picks if you're just going to cut them? These are guys who deserve a chance.

Bears rookie cb is killing. Thought jets should have a gotten a dB with their first pick. I like pryor who is a big hitter but at the moment whiffs on a lot of tackles. He was involved in that toasting that miller received from Jordy Nelson.

are our scouts just scouting defense? How are these gems by us 12 picks! 12! Does rex need more xp points to scout offense?

I'm just tired of this state of affairs.

Actually I'm a Giants fan. But I'm a lifelong New Yorker and I want all our teams to do well.

What kills Jets fans is the team has had success in recent years, but something always goes wrong. They went to the playoffs with Herm, but eventually Chad is undone by injuries. They were 8-3 with Eric Mangini & Brett Favre, then Favre gets hurt, killing their season. Under Rex & Sanchez, they go to back-to-back title games, but the last two years are a hot mess.

Look at the sports franchises with sustained success - Steelers, Patriots, Packers, San Antonio Spurs, the baseball Cardinals. They have smart ownership, the right people in the right jobs, stable front offices, great scouting, one voice throughout the ENTIRE organization, and with the football teams, a franchise QB. I don't see that with the Jets. They have a GM with a coach he didn't pick - that falls on the owner.

And I'd like to know what were the Jets reasons for drafting Stephen Hill over Alshon Jeffrey?????

I think Idzik is actually a smart man (probably more financial savvy than personnel). He's stubborn to a fault but smart.

But one of the problems is Woody not cleaning house.

We still have remnants of the Tannenbaum staff in the organization.

So you basically waste this year to justify firing Rex and the Tanny holdovers.

I think Decker was a good FA pickup especially at that price. But you gotta complement him with a high round quality WR. Our first WR taken was Jalen Saunders, a special teamer.

We were being cheap just for the sake of being cheap.

Re-signing Calvin Pace as a starter.
Not bringing in a quality Guard with Colon coming off injury and Winters being a stopgap but starting LG.
Not even giving guys like Brandon Flowers a look.

Idzik is following the Seattle model but with 12 picks, either stick with the rookies and suck it up or spend all your cap room.

You can't toe the line and expect to have success.

Rex has a bunch of scrubs in the secondary but is gameplanning like Revis is back there.

        It's a mess.

And Jeffx, I'm a Jets fan from Queens but that stadium should've been in Manhattan. If it was, Woody wouldn't have had such a tight wallet because the revenue would be spilling in.

Under Tannenbaum we went all in to try and win now, and while it wasn't a total failure since we went to the 2 afc championship games, it's strange to do it when you have a rookie QB who it would have been difficult to take that final step with. And then they weren't able to keep those teams together, and the players they did keep they made some bad choices.

Idzik's philosophy of building through the draft, and not going crazy in FA is a lot better, but you still have to pick the right players, and it remains to be seen if he can do that. And if he can find us a QB if Geno doesn't get better in a hurry.

As far as the stadium, I wasn't a fan of the Westside due to no parking/tailgating. I don't mind the Jersey location, though metlife itself isn't all that impressive.

IMO, Idzik will be the Jets undoing. He's strictly a numbers guy who had minimal impact on personnel in Seattle. According to articles I've read, he's the 32nd ranked NFL GM. This quote was from a league source; "The last two years + incompetence". And it's so pathetic listening to Rex defend this dude in a lame attempt to save his a**.

So the Jets have a GM with a so-called long-term plan, but they have a coach who needs talented players to win now to keep his job. Jets are a bigger soap-opera than the Dolan Knicks.

Whenever a team hires a new GM, he always brings in his own coach (like Chicago & Lovie Smith). Rex should have been let go along with Tannenbaum, but Woody kept him for some reason. Bad move for the franchise, because Idzik and Rex have different agendas.

I don't know about intentional, I just think Idzik is lousy at his job. Why not spend some of that cap money on a veteran corner/safety and draft some offensive skill players in the early rounds? Use the first pick on a big-time WR, someone to pair with Decker and give your young QB another option.

The last part falls on Woody, not Idzik. It was a stipulation for the GM job to keep Rex.

I'm cool with Idzik not overpaying guys like DRC and even Revis.

But Brandon Flowers, Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt, etc. We could've gotten relatively cheap deals for guys who would've been more productive than scrap heap guys that we're playing significant minutes.

But there's no way he's this bad right? Cause we've got guys starting that would be struggling to make most rosters in the league.

And we got Harvin in a trade for a conditional draft pick now that our season is pretty much done. This has sabotage written all over it.

I don't look at the Harvin trade as sabotage. Everything else (not spending money), yes.

But Rex pretty much was gushing over Tavon Austin last year.

Let's see if he can stay healthy and we can utilize him.

We lined up David Nelson and Tj Graham in the 4th quarter last night on the road against NE for goodness sakes.

If Harvin gets injured or is a terror in the locker room, we cut him.

If he does ok, we sign him to another one year deal.

The season is dead. And Rex will be fired. But I'm not mad at this trade all things considered.

I'm on the fence about this move. When I think about all I can say is a day and a dollar short. This is an offseason move. And no one is concerned that Seattle was so willing to let this guy go. This could be Holmes all over again. I would be far more impressed with this deal if it happened in April rather than now. The jets management lack foresight. We will see what happens next.

I'm not a Jets fan, but even I was disgusted by Idziot's rambling and ridiculous press conference. Woody should've fired him then and there - 19 draft picks over two years, and only ONE impact player? Woody better wake up and smell the coffee. Like Gary Myers said, Johnson needs a football guy to run the football operations.

As for Geno, he shouldn't play for the Jets the rest of the season. Start Vick and make Simms the #2.

Sitting Geno for the rest of the year does nothing but appease the locker room and an unrealistic fanbase.

The wise thing is to let Geno start and either improve or flame out. But you have to evaluate him to decide whether he is worth being a backup next year or not. The kid was a 2nd round pick for goodness sakes and he has won games for us.

Vick is a one year rental. Starting him is just a PR move and Rex's last ditch effort to retain his job.

I guess the only good news is that Marcus Mariota will be the new franchise QB in May. Smart choice, since Geno Smith is as good as gone. Draft Grade: 96
