Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
I still can't believe all this. I went to my first game live this year for Christmas thinking it was the best thing ever but seeing them win was even better! My 4-year old had to tell my wife and I to use our "inside voices" when Harvin ran the KO back.
I grew up watching the Hawks (partly because pre Sunday ticket, you only ever watched Seahawk games) and feel proud. Western Canada loves the Seahawks!Last edited by Perceptor; 02-03-2014, 06:54 PM.Comment

Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
I'm already excited for next season. Any opinions on offseason moves? LOTS of decisions are gonna have to be made over the next few seasons. Here's what I'm thinking.....
-Russ is gonna get his next year. He might take a deal that is slightly under 20 per. He seems like the type that will keep the teams interest in mind....I hope.
-Rice should be cut, unless there is some serious restructuring of his contract. Extremely deep draft at the receiver position helps as well.
-Tate is gonna walk. Someone will overpay for him. I have mixed feelings on him with the Hawks for the future. He was thrown into the role of a #1 when Rice went down. Not his natural position.
-Baldwin needs to be in the teams long term plans. He has great chemistry with Russ and is very consistent. Plus he showed up in the playoffs. He's restricted as well.
-I like Zach Miller. He's a valuable player that fits in well with the offense. Hopefully he can restructure. Dude's a great TE. I know Luke is up and coming, be he's not there yet.
-Giacomini deserves a contract. Good year.
-Bennett is gone. I love him as a player. But his personality screams $$$
-Clemons is a cap casualty. It sucks. It really does. If we're gonna lock up the big names, he might have to go.
-Sherman and ET. We have to keep both. They are corner stones and great leaders for this coming stretch. They deserve the big contracts. Especially Sherm. I hope they ink them THIS offseason.
-I like WT3 but he is gonna get paid in FA. Lane and Maxwell have proven themselves. BB should get another 1 year "redemption" contract.
-Draft targets are: O-Line, Receiver, D-Line, Cornerback

Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
It's encouraging how many players have come forward saying they're willing to take discounts to stay in Seattle. I have a feeling, based on ET's comments after the Super Bowl, that he and Sherman plan on taking discounted extensions in order to keep the LOB together (much like Kam did last offseason). If not, I don't see how we can keep Kam, Earl, and Sherm together.
I don't see any scenarios where the Big Russian is back. The FO is extremely high on Bowie and Bailey. They gained valuable experience and are cheap for 3 more years. One of those two will be your starting Right Tackle next year. I don't see McQuistan coming back either.
Clemons needs to pull a Larry Fitzgerald to stick around. No way they pay him $9.6m next year. I honestly think they get something done on a 1 year deal. Not many available positions for a 33 year old 9-tech end in the league. Clem has always kept himself in exceptional shape, I think he gets his explosiveness back (will be 18 months since his ACL tear). The Hawks don't gain much cap room cutting Big Red, but I hope he restructures. I'm really not sure what's going to happen with him.
Martellus Bennett sounded pretty sure Michael would return to Seattle. Apparently, he's big on being close to Hawaii (his wife is Polynesian), big on the accepting culture of Seattle, and big on the culture Pete has created. I really hope he does stay, but I don't know how much they'll be able to pay him.
I think Miller, Rice, and Tate are gone. Cutting Miller and Rice saves $12.3m. That's a huge loss, but it's vital in order to have any shot of extending ET, Sherm, and Russell. Even though Tate said he'd take a discount to stay, I don't think there's enough money. Signing Angry Doug to an extension is a huge priority. Must happen.
I think WT3 and Browner are done as Seahawks. Not enough money. They sounded pretty high on Simon and he's dirt cheap for three more years.
I think Clinton McDonald played himself into a starting role somewhere else. He REALLY stepped up his game this year. I bet McDaniel is back on the cheap. Time for Hill and Williams to step up.
Jeanpierre probably isn't back. He's good enough to start in the league.
I'll be interested to see if Anthony McCoy is back on the cheap.
The 2014 team may not quite have the versatility and depth of the Super Bowl squad, but a lot of youth will be a year older. Injuries or that team just south of us might be the only things to derail them. We'll see.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

If any of you guys have two hours to kill and feel like reliving how awesome last season was, the most recent episode of Rain City Redemption was finally done. This series is so incredibly well done and this one captures last season perfectly.

Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
Question for you guys now that our season is over:
What moves should we make going forward? I really think we should get rid of Bevell. Not just because of tonight, just because I don't like his playcalling ever.
Gets OC who focuses on the run to convince Lynch to stay.
Other than that, maybe sign Mathews to another one-year deal and make him our 1/2 depending on who we get in the offseason.
Nonetheless, I'm very excited for next season.Comment

Man this hurts. It really really hurts. After everything that happened this season. After 3-3, after 6-4, after Harvin, after that NFC Championship game comeback, after that amazing catch in the last minute of the Super Bowl. It sucks seeing the season end that way. It sucks seeing the game in the hands of Lockette instead of Lynch at the end. Why the hell wasn't Baldwin in for that play? I'm sick to my stomach. But thats why it's so hard to win in this league. Anything can happen.
Ok to answer your question. Russ will get paid obviously, so if Bevell is gone (not sure if this actually happens) they won't get a coordinator that is a "run first" simply due to the fact that Russ is making the big bucks. I feel that they will transition to him throwing the ball more. The Lynch situation is up in the air but in my opinion they HAVE to keep him on the roster. He means too much to the locker room.
Russ needs a big target. Mathews had a good game but he's not the answer IMO. They must get Russell a big tight end or true possession receiver that will be CONSISTENT. Not like Kearse who had probably the biggest drop of his career tonight.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
I think Bevell must go because I don't see some or most of the players trusting him anymore. That last play call was just too big.
Otherwise, great to see Matthews emerge but is that just today or going forward? Still need to address our need for a big WR, and perhaps a quicker shifty nickle/dime dB (but that just might be reactionary).
Team showed a ton of guts and grit with this season. I feel good about our prospects for next year already, especially if Bevell is dismissed.GO 'HAWKS!
