    Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread

So, your Seattle Seahawks are 6-4, currently 6th in playoff contention seeding, 5-0 at home, 1-4 on the road, and 0-3 in the division. I have some topics for us to ponder:

    1. Will the Seahawks finally correct their road woes?

    2. What have the Seahawks done well? What have we done poorly? Where can quick improvements be made?

    3. Does the recent defensive issues show apparent flaws, or were they just anomalies?

    4. Who is your Defensive MVP so far? Who is your Offensive MVP so far?

    5. Is Russell Wilson a legit franchise QB? Or is the jury still out?

    6. Will Pete Carroll ever get out of his own way when it comes to impulsive decision-making?

    7. Pass or run: Should we stick to our old-school approach, or join the rest of the pass-first teams in the NFL?

    8. Which injuries concern you the most?

    9. What will be the Seahawks toughest match-ups going forward?

    10. Predict our record at the end of the season. Will the Hawks surprise the league and win the NFC West? Will we finish 5th or 6th in seeding? Will we implode from here on out?

EDIT: From reading the last few pages of this thread, it's no wonder it hasn't been properly updated in weeks. Welp, time for a new topic...

      1. Will the Seahawks finally correct their road woes?

I expect us to start performing better on the road, but I think the CLink/12th Man combo will always make us better at home than on the road.

      2. What have the Seahawks done well? What have we done poorly? Where can quick improvements be made?

Well: Running the ball, pass defense, pass rush, stupid penalties going down, finally making big plays on offense, rapid maturation for RW, Wagner and even Irvin. Tate's finally emerging as a legit playmaker.

Poor: Still have some concerns about interior run defense, pass protection, WR consistency (though seeing improvement), 'soft underbelly' on short passing routes in middle of defense, special teams needs to sharpen back up.

Improvements to be made: Should be pretty healthy after the bye, Thurmond III hopefully back for Miami, Bevell continues to open up the playbook and start giving RW more audible options, Wagner's getting better every week so should help shore up the middle routes and inside runs, Sherman's successful blitz might indicate more creative blitz packages from Carroll/Bradley are in the mail.

      3. Does the recent defensive issues show apparent flaws, or were they just anomalies?

A bit of both. Flaws in execution or packages, anomalies due to injuries. Also some credit to good offensive play by opponents I think we're okay.

      4. Who is your Defensive MVP so far? Who is your Offensive MVP so far?

Def MVP: Wow...I love Wagner's process, and among the league leaders in tackles. But I have to go with Sherman, he's emerging as a shutdown corner and should be Pro Bowl bound this season.

Off MVP: Lynch. What a wrecking crew. Beast Mode indeed.

      5. Is Russell Wilson a legit franchise QB? Or is the jury still out?

Legit franchise QB. Like Payton Manning says, "Just wait till you see what's next!"

      6. Will Pete Carroll ever get out of his own way when it comes to impulsive decision-making?

Nope. Pete is what he is, and it comes with all of the stuff that makes him the coach that he is. He's too old a dog to change anything about himself.

      7. Pass or run: Should we stick to our old-school approach, or join the rest of the pass-first teams in the NFL?

IMO, I like power-running with passing/play-action mixed in, much like we are doing. I'd like to see the formula mixed up more often in terms of passing on 1st down vs running, keep em guessing. But I do like possession offense to keep the defense fresh and feisty.

      8. Which injuries concern you the most?

I'm really hoping Thurmond can bounce back and stay healthy for us. Would like to see him used sparingly as we can this season and be ready for nickel duty next year. Hope KJ's concussion is all ok. Hope Carp's all right. The word so far is that everyone should be healthy for Miami except Obo who's on IR.

      9. What will be the Seahawks toughest match-ups going forward?

Bears on the road and Niners at home.

      10. Predict our record at the end of the season. Will the Hawks surprise the league and win the NFC West? Will we finish 5th or 6th in seeding? Will we implode from here on out?

I could ask this same question about the Niners, lol. A lot of how we do depends on how THEY do. I don't like to predict W-L, but my hope at this point is for the sixth seed, pragmatically-speaking. Getting our rookies playoff experience would be epic!

        Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread

Still waiting for nortran and RA30 to chime in with their thoughts on Russell Wilson. I think they're waiting for him to struggle against the Bears, then they'll be back to say that Matt Flynn should start.

Thoughts on some of jWill's questions:

        1. The offense started putting it together on the road against the Lions, but the defense fell apart. I'm hoping that the bye week will get everyone rested up and ready for the trip to Miami. I'd like to be optimistic about it but it's difficult for me to have much faith until they prove it.

        4. Defensive MVP is Richard Sherman. True lock down corner.
Offensive MVP: Marshawn Lynch. Mentioned this in the Jets thread but I just love how hard he's running even after getting the big contract.

        5. Yes, from what I have seen. He has progressed every week, and rarely makes the same mistake more than once. Given his dedication and preparation, it's easy to see why. He is an entirely different quarterback than the one we saw Week 1 against the Cardinals.

        9. Agreed with Lieutenant Dan, Bears and Niners.

Anyone here still want to question Russell Wilson as the starting QB?

          Buehler? Buehler? Buehler?

You dont see Brady throwing crap like that.
A 75.3 rating is horrendous, stats dont lie.
Wilson is tied for 26/27th place on the QB rating list.
How is anyone even able to defend Wilson?

It's not like the Seahawks dont have another QB.
There is Matt Flynn sitting on the sidelines.

The Seahawks D is doing really well but the passing offense led by Wilson is pathetic.
What is Carroll trying to prove?

            Why isnt Carroll playing Flynn?

If Wilson has a 100 rating or even in the top half of all QBs, i can understand him being played but Wilson is rated at 73.5 and ranked 26th!
How is Carroll still playing Wilson when he is rating so low on the charts?

If u are a fantasy football manager, would u still be starting a 73.5 rated QB when u have Flynn on the bench?

              Wow.

I have loved Wilson since camp, but man. He WILLED the offense to that win yesterday. LOVED it.

Are we sure he's not a six-year NFL veteran in disguise?

The hyperbole in here is hilarious.

BUT HE HAS A 75 QB RATING!! BENCH HIM!!!

Had the pleasure of watching this game yesterday. That kid Wilson is something special. On the last drive to go ahead in regulation, he accounted for 94 of the 99 yards. And i believe well over half in the final drive in OT. Kid made the plays with his arm and his feet when he needed to.

That last 3rd down in OT, that Russ converted on his feet. Flynn doesn't do that. No way.

Not much to say for the Bears though. Poor tackling, defensive breakdowns and even poorer coaching.

Let's not forget nortran's insistence that Russell Wilson sucks too.

Honestly it wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the fact that these two guys straight up disappeared now that Wilson is tearing it up.

Alright. Great year for the Hawks. Looks like we will have the 25th pick in the draft which we also had two years ago. Thankfully this draft class is heavy with lineman and front seven studs so grabbing some depth there along with another solid receiver is the direction I hope they go.

Good year, 12's. We'll be back. We know it. The league knows it...

This is the beginning of the window for the Seahawks. Lots of reasons to be optimistic, starting with Russell Wilson. And with Carroll/Schneider having another full deck of draft picks in the draft, you know they're going to reload with some more great contributors.

Learned from the best, Ted Thompson.

3rd GM under Thompson just left for the Chiefs.
