    Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread

It's official. Beast Mode will stay in Seattle for the next 4 years.

31m with 18 guaranteed over 4 years. The nice thing is that frees up our franchise tag for the Heater or Big Red.

Better start building that Dave and Busters right next to the Applebees! Seriously though, is it just me or does anyone else want to see Lynch go wild and jump onto the equipment cart and take it for a spin after a huge game and nearly run over Tony Romo?

LOL, yes, that was a great resigning. The contract was well-structured too.

Red wants to stay and has more value to us than to most other teams, so I don't see the requirement to tag him. I'll be interested to see what happens with Heater. He was a little gimped last year, but I think Pete and JS are looking for more speed at the position.

Seahawks sign Matt Flynn to a 3 year deal. I've heard 24 or 26 million with 10 guaranteed (ESPN reporting 24, everyone else reporting 26).

Either way, it addresses one of the major needs of this team and doesn't cost any draft picks to do so. The Hawks are poised to have a great draft, now being able to draft for depth rather than filling huge holes.

Yes, I've been delighted with our FA period so far. Love our re-signings and that players WANT to be here, plus adding Flynn was exactly what I was hoping to do and I like his contract.

Makes me rest a little easier about the draft. I think we still need a pass rusher on the line (probably inside and out, or an inside rusher and a high motor pash rushing LEO OLB). We have got to bring some pressure.

I wouldn't be surprised if we still pick up a QB in the mid-rounds somewhere, with Pete probably arbitrarily 'starting' Flynn but having the QBs compete in camp and see what the rookie QB would have.

I am so relieved to see Flynn sign. I was really worried we were going to miss on Flynn, then Manning ended up a 49er....then we would have gotten stuck with Smith. We already have Alex Smith on the roster in the form of Jackson

Jason Jones is going to fill the role of 3tech to get interior pressure on passing downs. He was playing out of position in Tennessee last year. IMO, that was a great signing.

Haha, your train of thought mirrored mine for a worst case scenario.

Thanks for your insight. I haven't looked into Jones yet, so that's good to hear.

                  Re: Official Seattle Seahawks Thread

So, I'm curious to see what other Seahawks fans think of the latest mock draft. According to the "experts" the Seahawks select David DeCastro from Stanford in the first round. From what I saw of him when the Huskies played Stanford, the kid is just a manimal and he is local from Bellevue to boot.

As much as I would love to see the LB from Boston College come here, I think he isn't going to make it to 12

                    My oh my.....

                    Do those new unis suck.

I do kinda like the new shoulder design, the helmet looks alright with the bigger hawk logo....not sure about that new logo with the silver though.

The rest....wow....suddenly those day-glo green alternates don't look so bad. What in the hell is up with those pants? That stripe is very "huh?" inducing. My worst fears have been realized. We just went from being the Seattle Seahawks to the University of Oregon Ducks wearing Seahawks colors

Haha, I was thinking you'd post on the unis, nortran. It's a very polarizing topic today over at seahawks.net. Here is my post on the matter:

Hmmm, overall they exceeded my expectations and worst nightmares of how they COULD have looked.

                      PROS:
-Love the darker blue, especially on the helmets
-Love the helmets overall, will love them 100% if they fix that poor looking merge on the back to just a 'solid' merge or a blue fade.
-Like the font okay and especially the size of the numbers
-Like the incorporation of the grey
-Looks 'next gen' without looking 'Jetsons'

                      CONS:
-Green, highlighted, overly visible Nike logo on the sleeve instead of hawk head.
-Again, don't like the bad merge on the back of the helmets, please fix!!!!!
-Alternates aren't 'alternate' enough to be interesting.

Nortran, here is a vid that you might want to check out on the making of the unis. It might answer some of the 'whys' (but not all!) and give you a look at the cool tech involved that will help the players.

Yeah, still not sold. The tech on how to make a uniform that allows a player to move more efficiently, etc...that's cool. But why does all that tech have to make the player look uglier?

I saw a vid of the official unveiling of all 32 teams. God, they stood out like a sore thumb. And not in a good way.

Like I said in another thread, if this is what my Hawks are wearing on the field.....I'm switching to the smooth tones of Steve Raible on 710 for game time!

Also....why have an alternate that you can never wear at home? That grey is so light it looks like road uniforms.

They will be able to, the visiting team will have to wear their home jerseys. Just like when visiting Dallas.

Thanks to the NFL for giving me something to think about besides how ugly those uniforms are.....Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker return to Seattle for the first pre season game of the year.

As much as I absolutely hate the idea of paying full price for a glorified scimmage....I may just have to go to this game as I was (and still am when he is not playing the Hawks) a huge Matt Hasselbeck fan and it will be great to see him at the CLink again.

Anyone else in Hawksville think a three way QB competition is the worst possible thing?

You've got 2 out of 3 guys coming in learning a brand new offense, the 1 guy that knows the offense is a career backup. I will give you the fact that he had a decent season last year and really turned my head when he played with that torn peck....but still, he is not the guy clearly. If he were the guy, why pursue Flynn...why draft a QB as high as round 3?

You plug Flynn in as the starter and let him learn this offense with first team. Then let Tarvaris and Russell fight it out for backup honors. Don't take valuable snaps away from Flynn....that's like telling someone to swim the length of Lake Washington...but wait...you will need this backpack filled with rocks first.
