After the Sedins retired and Benning overpaid a pair of bottom 6 guys, we all asked where the Canucks' offense was going to come from. Apparently the answer was Elias Petterson. Don't look now, but Vancouver is leading their division.Comment

It can't last (the Canucks D is as atrocious as advertised), but I'll take it.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
Leafs killed Pens 5-0. Tavares with GWG. Connor Brown straight stole the puck from an unsuspecting Crosby in this game, that's how you knew Pens were off. Andersen gets a shutout as well.
For a staff so heavy into analytics, Leafs have some weird numbers. 6-0 on road, but lost most at home. Andersen loses more when facing under 25 shots VS 25+.Comment

LA Kings fired John Stevens. I guess if your team has a worse goal differential than Detroit in fewer games, it is just cause for getting sacked.
The good news for the Kings is that the earlier a team fires a coach, the higher chance the team has of turning it around. The bad news is that the interim coach is Willie Desjardins.Comment

Western Conference Champs Vegas about to start their (north)east coast roadtrip.
Leafs on Tuesday, Sens on Thursday, Habs on Saturday and Bruins on Sunday.
Saturdays game obviously will be an interesting one to watch. And not what you'd expect either. Vegas struggling and Habs off to surprising start. Pacioretty with 2 points in 10 games so far. On Habs end, Tatar has 11 points in 13 games.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
Stan Bowman must have read my comment about firing sooner rather than later, as Joel Quenneville got the axe. They promoted their AHL HC to replace him. Based on the construction of their roster, the Chicago FO deserves as much blame as Quenneville, and I could see them going down with the ship if the team misses the playoffs again.Comment

Huge news! Joel Quenneville out as Blackhawks coach.
Don't think he should've been the one to blame for the Hawks past few seasons. Though after winning 3 cups in 6 years, not gonna be sympathy for what has happened since. 2 first round exits, missed playoffs last year, and haven't fared much better so far this year. Hopefully we don't see the late 90s-mid 00s Hawks days ever again though.
No doubt he won't be without a job for long. Has coached in every season since 96/97, and was on pace to miss playoffs for consecutive years for first time as a coach.
Imagine if he ends up in LA.Comment

Re: The Official 2018-19 Season Talk Thread
LA already said they are sticking with Willie through the end of the season.
I could see the Blues bringing him back or it also wouldn't surprise me if he took the some time off and ended up involved with Seattle maybe (getting paid 6 mil this year and next).
I'll miss Q, so many great memories.
We'll see how it goes with Colliton, I like what I've heard so far but it'll be interesting to see how a younger head coach (played on the same World Juniors team as Seabrook) is received.Last edited by IlliniM1ke; 11-06-2018, 04:26 PM.Favorite Teams:
