Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
Are you even trying to understand what we're saying? It isn't about being HARD, it is about being impossible to win and ultra unrealistic. C'mon, use your head.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
-40 shouldn't happen for the CPU or the USER. If I have to shoot -40 to win a tournament, that is kind of unrealistic. That is one of the reasons I'm going to have to pass on the game this year.
In addition, EA needs to change the shot system before I spend more money on a Tiger Woods. The back and forth on the stick is just too easy after doing it for years and years. I want to see them go with a system where you have to use both sticks and have some timing of some sort. (Or something along those lines..) For now I'll keep playing 07 on my PS2 or maybe 09 but I actually liked 07 more...Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
While i do agree with you saying -40 is way unrealistic, and am very frustrated with the fact that EA can't make a game where it an pretty difficult to shot a 66. But, that being said, if you can't beat -40, lower the difficulty...i dont have trouble at all shooting -40...well im having a bit of trouble now that i turned the putting meter off.Comment

Umm. I think you're missing the point.

That does nothing, same scores regardless. Don't even know why they have them.Comment

It's not difficult for EA to program the AI so you get the option of various scores. Every golf tourney should have the winner shooting between -5 to -20 range depending on the course played regardless of what you do a s a player. Links on the PC had that 10 years ago and EA can't do it? If you wanna birdie every hole and shoot minus 40 than fine set the AI for high scores. We don't even have that option. They have a CPU difficulty option for this game but it's not for AI scoring in career mode. I don't even know what's it's for.
Therefore you're left with a game where if you want to win a tourney you have to max out your golfer, give him 400 yard drives and make every par 5 a drive and a chip shot with eagle every time. That's not fun to me.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
Well, this is really disappointing. I remember being very excited about last year's game on the PS3 because they finally got rid of the AI rubberbanding in tournament mode, and the CPU scoring was very realistic in tournaments. You could run away with one if you played really well (or, *hangs head* play on Balanced difficulty.) It seemed like the scoring would be lower as you increased the difficulty level, but it was always within reason. I haven't played any tournaments yet, but if everything I'm hearing here is true and there's no way to adjust it, this is pretty much a game killer as far as the PGA Tour Season is concerned.
It actually sounds like it's not really rubberbanding that's the problem, because rubberbanding would be preferable to what's being described here. At least rubberbanding gives you a chance to win. It's just that it would artificially make things close no matter how well or poorly you're playing. It sounds now like what they've done instead is simply made the CPU scoring impossibly low all the time. That's pretty weak.
Here's a thought, though. I have the Wii version, and I'm curious if anyone notices any difference in the scoring between difficulty modes. What I'm thinking is that if the scoring is more reasonable on Standard, then maybe you could play on Standard and manually make it more like Advanced (tune your clubs for maximum difficulty, turn off putt preview and post-shot spin control) with no effect on the CPU scoring. I won't be able to play the game today, though.
With the Wii version, at least, I don't think this will be enough to make me take it back. With the vastly improved controls, I'm sure I'll easily get my money's worth out of the game simply by playing hundreds of isolated rounds and compete against myself. But this is very disappointing regardless.Comment

What would make this perfect is to just have a slider, like they do for pretty much every aspect of the game in football/baseball games. Then each player could find a "sweet spot" of CPU scoring that either challenges the Superman golfer they like to use or realistic scoring for people who want a more authentic golf experience. And Seymour is right: this is definitely NOT difficult to program. At the end of the day, we're just talking about generating pseudo-random numbers here, because you see nothing of how the computer actually makes those scores in tournaments. EA would just have to tweak the ranges based on course conditions/difficulty, etc.
Therefore you're left with a game where if you want to win a tourney you have to max out your golfer, give him 400 yard drives and make every par 5 a drive and a chip shot with eagle every time. That's not fun to me.Comment

Re: OMG ,WHAT A JOKE!!!
I played on Tour Pro last year though, but I don't remember how high I got my clubs. I had my sweetspot as low as it could go with the PowerCap password and didn't have too much trouble with the game. Not sure if I was using expert clubs though - probably not seeing as I didn't play for too long last year (advanced maybe?).
Easy may have been the wrong word anyway - stale might be a better word to use for how I feel about TW golf. I would just like to see something different because they've been using the same system for what, 7 years or something now? I just found 09 got boring in a hurry and a new swing system would probably change that repetetive feeling.
