unless it's patched... even with the improved gameplay...

today, as it is right now...

pga2k23 is only good for solo play and versus with friends. that's it.

pay-2-win consumable golf balls and no-repercussion-for-quitting matchmaking render every other mode pointless.

I can see them adding it in. It does sound like they listened to the feedback. I feel adding that would be a middle ground.

IDK...this is beginning to feel like the "2K-ification" of the series...ways to get people to pay real money to buy VC go get an advantage with these DLC golf balls. Hope I'm wrong.

No need to hope because you're exactly right.

These video games are already expensive, so why have a Deluxe Version and a "This Player" Version? Because they know people will spend the money. VC reminds me of gas: people complain about how high it is but are going to buy it anyway.....and the gas/gaming companies are fully aware of it.

I honestly believe this will be the start of something bad: golf purists wanting to play the game the right way are going to run into online players using Steph Curry (because they don't know golfers on the roster) and cheesing with super-duper DLC golf balls.

Although I think it is silly that a golf ball makes a green a different speed, I could probably get behind this pay to win stuff if 2K was giving me the same effort as NBA. That game is so good. They are providing you with a realistic NBA game (from 4 different eras even). They have real PA announcers, autuentic stadiums sounds, multiple broadcast crews, etc. They try to replicate so much of NBA down to the finest details

Yes there is the pay to win of Park, Rec, MyTeam. But the whole experience is vast and authentic

This is my gripe about PGA 2K from all the information I've consumed. We have LPGA players in the PGA and they are part of rival system, we can only substitute certain courses in MyCareer, we can't play against the real pros in a tournament, the leaderboards seem to only have certain golfers win most of tournaments, etc. This stuff isn't authentic PGA simulation

You can give me arcade elements and pay to win. But in return give me an ability to play an authentic golf game that replicates what I see on TV. Why can we have full rosters of NBA players spanning 4 different eras of basketball but we only have 9 golfers on the PGA Tour? We should have almost a full 100 man field (not just in name only). We should have a creation suite like in NBA where we could create PGA players and place them in field. They should have their own stats, strengths, weaknesses. We should be able to play a tournament with them if we choose. Tournament should play out based on data to simulate what happens in real life not just a few golfers winning each week.

It just seems like this game is lacking content. I think it will be good. 2K21 was good (with faults). But the game just seems somewhat shallow.

I'm struggling to find a reason for me to purchase it. I think I can have some fun with MyPlayer and I like that there are new real courses. But aside from that, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot here to drive my purchase (and it isn't about money for me, it is content).

I'm hoping for a bunch of glowing reviews tomorrow to sway me to buy the game. Otherwise it may be a wait for Black Friday deal game for me.

Just heard via CrazyCanuck's livestream that if you preordered to get the Jordan stuff, you actually only get playable Michael Jordan, but none of the Jordan apparel or gear. You have to buy that separately with VC.

Good to hear - makes the decision to just go with the standard version that much easier.

Both Jordan and Tiger will be unlockable as well as their gear if you play enough I’m guessing.

It's all included with the NBA and players union license. There are no PGA players union, they're all individual contractor and have to be licensed one by one. The best the PGA license can do, it's their names on the leaderboard. That's how it has been explained in the past.

I have to say, whatever comes out of this consumable golf ball situation, this has left a really bad taste in my mouth.

The content providers (NextMakers) came out immediately once they got their hands on a preview build of the game to say that the DLC golf balls were not pay to win, were not a big deal, and you'd be totally fine without them.

Now, the eve of release is here, and they all begin to share their "concerns" about this, and they didn't notice it until this weekend. I get that they couldn't play online until now, but they did have access to the consumable balls in the preview build...

And now they are telling everyone to "relax" and HB is aware of it, and that same old song and dance. But this very much feels like a conscious decision that was made and is NOT an issue or a bug. It is a way to incorporate more DLC transactions to make more money.

I hope they do something to address it...at the very least, let societies restrict the use of the consumable balls. But I am really doubting that will be the case.

But that golfer and the new animations are dynamite. Hope they patch this thing to where you guys like it. I didn't see too much wrong with the builds the guys on YT were playing with the exception of some of the rollouts and putting stroke weirdness. I hope some of the better courses get ported over without too much graphical problems with the trees. Don't know how that will work with the new assets but we about to find out. Really looking forward to the $hitshow.

EA had boost pins, but this is something else. Anyway it doesn't bother me, I don't play competitive and as long as the game let me play the way I want, it's all good.

One of the community guys who 2K/HB hired said a Day 1 patch is coming on 10/14. However, he would not say what's in it.

Are there really no stats tracked in online multiplayer? Not even wins and losses? I’m pretty shocked if so, might have to cancel my order. Online is all I play.

That's the thing. People who play competitive online sports games should just accept that it's going to be pay to win. Every franchise is that now, and players enable that by feeding it with cash every year.

Those of us who play offline will just sit back and hope that our modes aren't eroded year to year while we are pushed towards that nonsense. Seems like 2K have a decent track record of holding onto and building offline modes, but then again PGA2K doesn't have a long history like NBA, so who knows.

not one thing is tracked in any online versus mode.. there is no leaderboard, online stats page, records -- nothing.


societies and mycareer has stats. nada for any online versus mode.
