New patch/hotfix today, apparently addresses crashes that happened in 4-player online matches:

Just a heads up...I know that these patches basically require you to re-download the whole game each time, and I have had the game on my PS4 just fine since release and have gotten all the updates with no problems, but this hot fix is saying I need to free up an additional 7.25 GB to download it? I don't know why this one is needing that much more space.

Just for gits & shiggles I decided to play a round as Nadeshot (and I don't know him from Adam). I can't explain why, but the animation felt smoother and more proportionally integrated with the thumbstick motion. In my first time in 2K23 history, playing Pro swing difficulty, I hit every fairway because my tempo was coming within band so much better.

Nadeshot's default driver had a carry of only 264 yards, but it felt so good to be controlling a swing that not only seemed to animate better, but felt like it was being more precisely modulated by what I was doing with the stick. I was totally not expecting this!? It's going to make it more difficult for me to go back to my dodgy, inconsistent animation in my created player for Society and Career mode play.

Interesting. Have you tried playing with any of the other celebrities or pros?

Back when the game first came out I tried to play one hole with Harold Varner. Swing was very tough to watch and try to time.

Here I thought all the swings were generic as I've only ever used the default character.

They "reference captured" the pro/celebrity swings, I believe. Or at least most of them. They didn't do a true "motion capture" for all the pros, but animated their swings based on watching footage.

I haven't, but I think I'll give it a go now that you mention it. When I went back to my created player for Society play after using Nadeshot, my game fell apart again. It's so frustrating to have a game that yields such an inconsistent play experience. If I could play Society rounds as Nadeshot, I guarantee you I'd score better.

Cool, I didn't know they had done that. It makes enough of a difference to make the swing look different, and IMO, actually feel more proportional, at least in the case of Nadeshot. I think it would have been cost prohibitive to mo-cap these non-pros at least, but I'd rather have these cosmetic changes than nothing.

I went back last night and played a round as Zalatoris. Once again the swing integration felt more proportional. I was playing a casual round, but I was in online mode. I can play a casual mode in online mode with my created character and it yields less consistent results.

I then started a casual round with my created golfer on the same course I'd played with Zalatoris. I started having glitchy swings right off the first tee. By the 4th hole I was ready to quit, but I decided... what the heck, I'll just disconnect my XBox Series X from the internet and see how it plays. I played the 5th through 8th holes in two under and didn't miss a fairway or a green. The game recognized I wasn't connected to the internet anymore and told me I'd have to reconnect before I could play.

I reconnected and played a hole, and right away, the swing aberrations were back. I disconnected from the internet, and again the next 4 holes played smoothly before I got another message to reconnect. This game is so hard to explain? I can play it on my PC with a created player and it's much more consistent there, provided I have the graphics set to where I get a solid 60 FPS. I've yet to try one of the players included with the game on the PC version to see how much smoother they may play, but I'll give it a go eventually.

Turned swing timing off just for the fun of it and I’m enjoying more than I though I would. Scores haven’t been that low either 6 or 7 under.

Damn shame they can't figure out a way to incorporate pot bunkers into this game. Some of these links courses would look so much better.

I've been doing this for a while on Pro level and I average from 2-6 under. Don't miss tempo at all as it got so frustrating on Xbox Series S. Since dropping it, I've had no more swing stuck nonsense.

So I reset calibration on my xbx today. Made the mistake of calibrating shortly after getting the game and mostly just playing on pro. After switching to master and having difficulty I read about how you shouldn't calibrate an xbox. Found a guide on how to do it but the downside is you have to rebuy all your fittings that have. Decide to go for it and man what a difference, I'm actually now able to hit perfects more than once in every million shots and when I do it's dead center on the white before a perfect was always off to the left side. Perfects on chipping as well which I could never get. Now I just need to esrn some cash to rebuy my fittings, lol.

This is what I followed if anyone is interested.

Just want to throw a little more light at 2k23...played a few rounds with my buddy on Tuesday and again tonight (private match). No glitches, solid, very fun gameplay. We both shot a little under par and it was very competitive on multiple courses from the "trending" or "official" list.

This game does play *very well* when it's working right, especially once you figure out the different (harder?) swing mechanics.

Having a great time with it when I do get to play.
