After today, it's obvious that McLaren has closed the gap on Red Bull. But I'd like to see what happens once F1 reaches their first purpose-built race track.

Hey BIG CAROLINA,
Nice pics of you at the AMA Pro Racing Superbike event this past weekend. I didn't get to see the first race at Daytona, but I did see the second one which led to a spectacular photo finish in that duel between Blake Young and Josh Hayes.

Yeah that was one of the best finishes that I have seen at Daytona in any series. Josh just mis timed his move and it cost him. Atleast he won the 1st race though.GT: BIG CAROLINA23

I can't help but think that the IRL needs to implement a green-white-checkered rule.Comment

Now with Ducati being sold to Audi, maybe the Doctor can finally get a bike that he deserves to be on. Hopefully they can convince him stay.
Sad to see him riding mid pack without a chance for a podium each and every race.

Re: F1/IRL/All Other Forms of motorsports Thread
I think I was referring to the IRL race at Edmonton which ended under caution. I just don't really like when races end under caution. With that being said, the way NASCAR implements the green-white-checkered rule isn't the greatest, either. It kind of takes away from the race when the dominant driver gets screwed over on a green-white-checkered restart.
In addition, the way NASCAR handles cautions these days is turning me off a lot. It makes no sense that any little debris on the race track warrants a five-lap caution in NASCAR whereas Indy and F1 don't tend to throw cautions for useless crap, even though they are open-wheeled and are probably more vulnerable than their stock car counterparts. It seems like this is something that NASCAR started getting bad about in the 2003-2005 timeframe.
I don't really like the lucky dog rule, either. I wish NASCAR would return to the pre-lucky dog days, even if this meant getting rid of double-file restarts.
Hamilton won the F1 race at Budapest on Sunday. Now, F1 goes on a one-month break.Last edited by superjames1992; 07-30-2012, 05:29 PM.Comment

Pretty much every other series I've watched which wasn't based in North America only throws a cautions for major safety issues, i.e. a car or cars stuck somewhere where they can't be retrieved safely under a local caution.
F1 has less than 10 cautions PER YEAR. That's less than one every 2 races. Obviously ovals require more cautions as there are no runoff areas and you've got a concrete wall waiting right at the edge of the track but as you said NASCAR has gotten into the habit of throwing the caution for every little debris that sometimes can't even be found by the TV cameras.Comment

That and IndyCar fans. I've never met a fanbase who are so stuck in tradition that they don't want to move forward in regards to anything. The street courses are also horrid.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks
