Mgo, that's exactly why I stayed away from ICS 2005.

You have to know exactly how to fine tune your car, deal with the caution issues in the game, etc.

I'm sure it's a solid game, but not for me.

Got this to help out with car setups from PK:

I like the game a lot. It's a real challenge, and I Am having a hard time adapting to it after playing with Nascar games for so long.

But so far a very enjoyable game. Just so deep and I have so much to learn about Indy racing.

wow, great site BK! and I agree, this game is fun, I'm getting better at tuning my car, can qualify around 20th at Indy with all aids off, but it's tough when I get into the actual race...I can run a good line with no cars around, but i've gotta get used to being in the middle of a pack

                        BK, Blue:

A couple of tips for racing in traffic:

                        1. Keep a low line. Usually the AI cars will lift a bit and often give you room for a pass if you're on the low line. The AI won't give you a bit of room if you're on the high side, so you better have a lot of momentum or be on a wide track like Michigan or California if you're going to pass high.

                        2. Realize this game does have a bit of "aero push" modeled, I think. Sometimes your car will push up toward the wall if you try to pass in traffic in turns.

                        3. Patience, patience, patience. Unless you're running a 10-lapper, which is nuts -- race longer distances!, don't try a really ballsy move early in the race. Don't try the three-wide move for 16th place in Turn 1 of Lap 3 at Indy. It probably won't work, and chances are you can draft the guy in the next corner and blast past him on the straightaway.

                        4. Learn to lift before passing. There are times where I draft a guy down a straight and think I have the inside line for the pass in the corner, and that guy suddenly slams the door and blocks me. I immediately lift the gas and coast and draft him for a few meters before gradually re-applying the power. You'll lose very little ground and be set up nicely for another drafting-and-passing attempt on the next straight.

                        5. Think and be patient. Did I mention patience before? I know BK is a NASCAR Racing veteran, and that lends itself to some fender-banging driving tactics. Obviously, you can't get away with that in an IndyCar Series car, so plan your passes either with caution or with decisive precision. You can't make a lunge and hope you'll make the pass, which sometimes works in NASCAR games because you can rub sheet metal and still pull it off. In IndyCar Series racing, either blow past the guy or lay back and wait until the next turn.

                        Hope this helps!

                        Take care,

yeah, thanks for the advice, I'll try that out. I'm not too bad now, just getting passed more in the turns, I've gotta keep that low line and make them pass me high, rather than giving them enough space to go low on me. When they go low on me I'm more likely to end up in the wall, because it's tougher to hold that high line. It's fun though, and that site had great explainations on each tweaking function, along with actual setups I can get an idea of what people do. Haven't had the yellow problems since I turned off AI adjust speed
