Re: Indy Series 2005
First, let me start by saying I'm not a big racing fan. I don't follow IRL, Cart, F1, Nascar or any other racing organization. But every now and then, I will tune into a race for a few moments at a time. And I do have a passing interest in what goes into operating these cars. That being said, I have been wanting to try a racing game that was more sim than arcade. I am a fan of the Need for Speed series but I am now interested in something a bit more realistic. After reading some of the forums here, and winning one of the Indy Car T-shirts in the contest, I decided to buy Indy Car Series for PS2. I have to say that I was impressed with the game. I actually sat there and completed a 50 lap race after I took a few practice laps at a few different tracks. I think I came in 16th place out of 25 cars. I didn't pass anyone, but I was just thrilled with trying to stay on the racing line, chase down my competitors and hold off those who were trying to pass me. I think I did pretty good considering I don't know any techniques for passing, nor do I know any Indy Car Racing strategy. But I am looking forward to learning. It was refreshing playing a racing game that rewards great driving skill. Most racing games I played before, I could get by on reckless driving and "bumper" car techniques if need be. I really didn't think "oval racing" would be that engaging. Hopefully, ICS 2005 can find it's way to North America for the PS2.

Derrick:
Very nice post. Hang on to that copy of IndyCar Series, as IndyCar Series 2005 isn't coming to the PS2 in the U.S.
Sorry, man.

Re: Indy Series 2005
Thanks for the info. Well, I'm glad I found this used copy. I went to a number of stores and searched the used racks before I could find it. I picked it up for $17.99. I wish the cover wasn't messed up with used sticker remnants all over it. Oh well, the game plays great and I'm happy. Who knows, maybe I'll convert to Xbox one of these days! I guess I should thank you too. Your comments about the game got my interest high. I also picked up Grand Prix Challenge for $12.99. Not a bad $30 spent, huh? With my little time with both games, I prefer ICS. This game would make me pick up a steering wheel if it was compatible. Anyway, Masterclass awaits and I need those classes badly!!Comment
