I have been looking at some videos on the net of this game, and it seems the phsyics arent quite right. Of all the videos I saw, it seemed like most most of the time the person could either bump the wall or another car with little penalty. I saw them rub their tires on the wall going 230 mph coming out turn 2 at IMS, and all it did was show some sparks and they kept going without much of a dip in speed. Is what I saw correct? or is there some tweaking still going on. I have been to almost everytrack in the US for open wheel, as well as several tracks across the pond to f1 races, and I dont think i have ever seen someone hit the wall at 200+ mph the way the video showed without taking out a wheel or at least bending axle to some degree. Is this more of a sim, or arcade in that respect, allowing the user more room for error. Also, from what I saw, the speeds seemed really high as well. Pole at indy was 222, but the speeds in the movies were averaging well over 230 on the first lap of the race, that includes the turns. I love the way the game seems to feel though, the sense of speed seems dead on as does the dartiness of the cars. This could be great, heres crossing my fingers

Forens:
You're an observant man! The damage model in ICS 2005 is a bit forgiving, even on the Pro mode, sadly. We had to keep the game accessible to those who aren't hardcore sim racers or massive IndyCar Series fans.
But a really hard smack still will bend the suspension or hurt the car. You can't play bumper cars for very long in this game.
I have suggested to the developers that we add a hardcore mode next year with very unforgiving damage. I hope they act on the suggestion!
The speeds are much higher because the game is based on the 2003 season, when the cars used 3.5-liter engines and an aero package with more downforce. This year's Indy 500 was the first race with the new 3.0-liter engine and new aero package with less downforce, dropping speeds about 10 mph to enhance safety.
Take care,

Re: Indy Series 2005
pk500, what is your live gamer tag? Mine is Brandon. I will be getting this game I have played 2004 and loved it. I have never played a racing game where the AI was non scripted I have been racing in a few races where the AI has taken out as many as 11 cars. I was coming out of the pits and the yellow came out after a hugh pile up of AI cars. I played the replay back it was great. I have tried very hard to like Grand Turismo but the AI was so scripted that I didn't play it long. I am really looking foreword to this game. How are the pit stops handled this year and have you noticed if there are engines that blow out or any other type of random stuff. one last thing how are yellow flags handled this year on line and off. See ya on line
thanksComment
