PK, I think you're attacking this game for not being something that it isn't trying to be. This is a car game, not a racing game. This is test driving vehicles you'll never own, and having 700 of them in the garage. Even looking at the back-of-the-box blurb, racing doesn't get mentioned until #5, after the freakin' photo modes.

This is a game about cars and driving. If PD could get away with having no other cars on the track, I think they would. Just let you drive around. But they need a hook for the game, so there's racing. I just don't think that racing's the point.

I think slamming GT for not having good racing AI is like slamming Burnout for not having realistic physics.
Good point but why cant they improve on the racing AI? Still no excuse for not having online play. I purchased GT, GT2, and GT3 on the first day. This time I will wait until the price goes down.

    Peace

No problem. I just like to discuss games with people who aren't fanboys. It's obvious that the widespread popularity of GT has bred plenty of fanboys, some of which post here.

I'm just looking for the specific gameplay improvements of GT 4, and no one has stepped forth with any. If someone could provide detailed descriptions of the gameplay improvements of GT 4 that refute my claims, then I'll be happy to eat the nearest plate of heaping humble pie. It's not like I'm asking for the combination to the vaults at Fort Knox.

And again, I've put more than 100 hours into the first three GT's and have said so numerous times in this thread -- I guess your reading comprehension is suffering today -- so it's pretty daft to suggest that I hate GT. I just don't think the series has evolved at all, and that's a shame.

the game sucks, okay, we all think it sucks. it's the worst racing game ever. will you go away now so we can enjoy it???
There are a lot of good things about GT 4. Number of cars, tracks, gorgeous graphics, good driving model. But nothing really has been improved on the gameplay side from GT 3 from what I can read. At least no one has indicated anything specific. That's my beef.

As for going away, I've been here a lot longer than you and made many more substantive contributions to this forum than you, and I have no plan to go away unless Fossen and the other mods ask me to.

I love racing, love racing games and have an intense passion for the genre to be as developed, dissected and discussed as more popular genres like football, baseball and basketball. I also call a spade a spade and refuse to fall into fanboyism.

If you can't handle that, then don't read or respond to my posts.

      Take care,
      PK

That's the best you can reply? Come on, you're smarter and more clever than that.

And can you help answer my question of specific gameplay improvements in GT 4? No one has stepped up to the plate yet.

                  Re: GT4 review.

All right pk500 i'm going to be the bigger man here and let this die rather than continue to argue minutae with you. I feel like that is the smarter decision. Any gameplay improvements I list will be countered by you with some complaint you have with the game.

I will resign myself to not being able to read a GT post on this board without your snide comments and read posts about the game elsewhere.

It would be nice if you could let people discuss a game we enjoy without you pissing on every thread but I guess that is too much to ask. Shine on, brother, go beat down Gran Turismo fans everywhere to your little heart's content.

                  Take care,

To each their own, but what minutae are we arguing? No one has posted ANY minutae regarding the gameplay of this game. That's all I seek, as I'm genuinely curious.

Trust me, if you listed detailed specifics of legitimate gameplay improvements in GT 4, I would be the first to compliment you. You know, something more than "it handles better," "it feels better," "there are more cars and more tracks" and "the graphics are prettier."

Anyone who has posted here more than a month knows that I'm the first one to say "mea culpa" when someone disproves one of my theories or shows that I'm an idiot through specifics.

You can say I'm pissing on your threads. That's fine. But I asked one simple question -- Name specific gameplay improvements to GT 4 -- and haven't received one specific answer from anyone.

It's sort of rich for you to say that I would piss all over anyone's list of specific improvements considering no one has posted any specifics from which you could gauge my track record of responses.
