Do the Gamecube games work with the Wii? My daughter tried Mario Kart and it loaded but could not play it.

    Thanks

Is anybody going to pick up Far Cry this week? Anyway, I went out looking this past week (Christmas shopping) for the nunchuck and classic controllers, but no dice. Both were out at Wal-Mart and Circuit City.

well one of my buddies brought the wii over today and i spent about an hour playing wii sports and another hour playin madden and, i know i'm in the minority here, but I just wasn't feeling it. I just feel like it would get old fast. I played each of the wii sports a few times through and then went through all the training modes and practice modes in madden, then played a game. While I thought it was cool to snap back the remote to hike the ball and then move forward to pass, I was just like blah. I dunno what it was about it. I really am disappointed because I wanted to like it so much, but after playing each for about an hour, I was done. Maybe once more games come out, I'll (hopefully) chnage my tune, but right now I'm just not very impressed.

Totally opposite for me. I had a blast all day with it. Daughters, Nephews and I played most of the day. Even the wife played some bowling. Then the last few hours I got sucked into Zelda. Having a great time so far!

I keep thinking the controls will get old and boring and I'll want to go back to the old school controller, but it hasn't happened yet and I forget about wanting to go back whenever I play.

I haven't once thought of going back to the old controls for the Wii if I had the chance. At one point I would have wanted to try Cube Zelda, but not anymore.

                    Nintendo Stock Falls Slightly
Wii sellouts can't stop a minor decline in share prices.

December 4, 2006 - Forbes is reporting that Nintendo stock has taken a slight hit this past weekend, following the launch of it's new Wii console in Japan. According to several sources, the 400,000 launch units of the system sold out almost immediately after its launch on December 2. This came hot on the heels of a similar sellout in North America of the 600,000+ units that were available there after the November 19 launch date.

Noted finance journal, Bloomberg, reported that, "Nintendo, based in Kyoto, said it delivered 400,000 Wii consoles to retailers in Japan for the opening day and has produced 1 million units to replenish stores, such as Yodobashi, that sell out of the game. The company on Nov. 27 said it sold more than 600,000 Wii consoles in the Americas during the product's first eight days."

In spite of these strong sales for the innovative new console, Nintendo's stock refused to echo this success. Nintendo's share prices on the Nikkei stock index fell by slightly more than one percent over weekend trading. Industrious Nintendo fans should already know that the lucrative stock has seen a 91% increase this past year due in no small part to strong sales of the dual-screened handheld and pre-launch hype surrounding the Wii.

According to Forbes, "Nintendo lost 290 yen or 1.1 percent at 26,890 (on the Japanese Nikkei index) after the launch here (in Japan) Saturday of its Wii next-generation game consoles, during which buyers snapped up all 400,000 that were put on the market, dealers said."

It is not yet known whether this decline in share prices will be repeated on the American Stock Market.

Just did the same thing ($110 over retail) but after wasting a few hours on auctions -- I justified the $110 and bit the bullet... Here's hoping it actually comes...

                        Nintendo Starts Virtual Console Mondays
Four new games hit the service this morning.

December 4, 2006 - Nintendo announced this weekend that it would be initiating its "Virtual Console Mondays" starting December 4. Every Monday for the rest of the year, Nintendo will be releasing more classic games for its game download service. These games can be purchased by Wii owners with high-speed Internet connections by redeeming Wii Points. Wii Points are available at retail outlets, or in the Wii Shop Channel itself.

Earlier this morning, Nintendo added four new games to their download service. The first of these was Donkey Kong Jr., originally for the Super NES, which costs 500 Wii Points. Also made available was Victory Run, for the TurboGrafx-16, which is going for 600 Wii Points. The final two releases were Ristar and Columns, both originally for the SEGA Genesis, and both available for 800 Wii Points each.

Each Monday's releases are expected to be announced during the preceding weekend at Nintendo's Press Site (login is required).

I believe that DKJ was for the original NES not SNES.

Will I need a Memory card to DL these games? If not, how many DL will my WII hold. Thanks for responses.

the WII has 512 megs of internal RAM

amount of games depends on the games and what else you have on memory( such as game saves, etc).
