Last Christmas (2006, not the most recent) we had a big snow and ice storm up here and my friends and I gathered for a snowed in game session. I, having the only Wii, brought mine over and when I got there realized I left the sensor bar at home. The weather was awful and no one wanted to get back in a vehicle so we, figuring it was just an infra-red remote, set-up some candles beside the tv and lo and behold it worked perfectly. Well, until the candles burned down too low and we had to scrounge for some other ones. I don't know how many candles we went through that day. Eventually when we needed to leave the premises for some nourishment (which I believe came in the form of Sal's pizza) we went back to my place and grabbed the bar but the candles worked just fine. And we were playing for the better part of the day the motion-intensive Dragonball Z fighter.

As well, if you have a girlfriend who would dig bowling once and a while and some friends who would like to play, then it can be a great party system as well.Comment

Re: Official Wii Discussion
I think it just comes down to whether you think you would like playing the "big" nintendo games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid. If you know what those games are about and can't wait to play them, then you have probably 80-100 worth of gaming with those three alone.
As well, if you have a girlfriend who would dig bowling once and a while and some friends who would like to play, then it can be a great party system as well.
At the same time, I bring the Wii to my parents for holidays, my mom loves bowling lol...so it's got that group appeal.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Official Wii Discussion
I'm probably the type of gamer who would least enjoy the wii. I have no particular love for Mario, Zelda, Kong, or any other Nintendo staples.
I basically bought the system because a pile of 36 were right in front of me at a Target.
Time will tell if it's just the novelty of a new system, but we're really liking the wii, because it is truly a new dimension of console gaming.
I find Madden,Tiger Woods,The Bigs,Fishing Master, and The Godfather all very fun to play on the wii. For hardcore simming, I will stick with the 360 on a game like MLB 2K8, but for an inter-active fun factor the wii simply rules. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who does not enjoy Wii Sports-Bowling.
Absolutely no regrets here.Comment

Re: Official Wii Discussion
Got one for the kids this Christmas and have been playing it more than them. Love Mario and Zelda and love the classic games. I admit when I do play, the session is usually not as long as when I play my 360, but I have played it every day since xmas.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

When will consumers like myself be able to walk in to a store and buy one off the shelf? This shortage is beyond ridiculous.PSN: sportdan30
