1.5 firmware coming today
Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.
The good news about 1.5 is that Japan's cell phone wallet system (Edy) will become useable as a PlayStation Store payment method; a new audio option will enable the volume of user interface sounds to be changed; and you'll be able to use your own photo as your system user icon. Oh, and you'll be able to get Korean input from a USB keyboard -- we almost forget to mention that!Comment

Yeah, the rumors were that your fix for 720p was coming this update, but it's now been debunked, and I've read several places that said it's a go for March though.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
The word on the Playstation boards is that PS1/PS2 games have been fixed when you play them on the PS3. I updated my system and it includes a few minor things to the system but nothing that stands out.
The other thing is that you can import and use your picture in your PS3 profile.Comment

I guess that's too late now for the 720P update for me. LOL!
1.5 did fix what you confirmed. The word on the Playstation boards is that PS1/PS2 games have been fixed when you play them on the PS3. I updated my system and it includes a few minor things to the system but nothing that stands out.

"The latest PlayStation 3 update has hit for North American users, bringing PS3 firmware to version 1.50. The full change log is, sadly, noticeably absent—please make this available with each update, Sony—but the most noticeable change comes in the form of fixed display of PSone and PS2 games not running in progressive scan mode. That's right. Former eye-poisoning backward compatable games are now fixed. I just popped in Okami and Metal Gear Solid 3, with both displaying on par with their original hardware platforms. In fact, they look pretty fantastic. Amen!
Excellent news, meaning one less reason to have my North American PlayStation 2 hooked up to INPUT 2 on my HDTV. Thanks for fixing this, Sony"Comment

Updates is one thing that Sony is getting right, they are coming pretty quick and so far are pretty good. Just please start giving us a damn change log. Still looking forward to the much talked about major March firmware update.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and discussion
Has anyone played a PS2 game on the PS3 after the update?
They look pretty good. A whole lot better than they did before.
I still can't wait until the March update. Hopefully we will have everything that we are wanting and then some.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
