Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
I understand your concern and its legitimate. I think there are a lot more cheaters than users who update their games with rosters from OS and DT Linder. I remember when the xbox360gamesaves firts started their quest to share gamesaves and achievements, I was the only person on there board concerned about rosters. Most of the guys wanted to up their achievments and share XBLA games. While I agree with you for the most part, obviously enough people are "cheating" or using file transfer devices to warrant Microsoft to add programming time to eliminate this practice. Yet, we are such a minority that they will not address it? Maybe I am just naive, but just how many people do you think are accessing game saves to cheat and up there gamer profile? A lot? I would think there are a lot more roster and sports gamers out there using these for legitimate purposes....but I might be wrong.
I guess it is a calculated risk by MS. Lock out the cheaters, and vicariously lock out the hard core sports gamers rosters that get caught in the crossfire. Hope that is balances out in the end. I know it has made me doubt my XBOX360 future. I need a new controller and was thinking of picking up one of the new elite controllers. But now I am inclined to not invest anymore into this system as a Ps3 might be in the cards. Especially if rosters saves and upated are as easy a using USB drives. As long as this exists on the 360, I will have some anxiety every time I access one of my rosters or franchise files wondering if this is the time that MS has now blocked it or not.
Peace!
I just think that MS even thought about roster makers when they did this. One other thing about the PS3...dont be surprised if Sony does the same thing once Home is up and running. They are notorious for upgrading the firmware and preventing modding on the PSP.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
There is the irony. In general I have found the Sony Products to be less "mod-able" if you will. I have owned only an Xbox and Xbox 360 since the xbox came out. I have watched as game saves and mods could not be loaded on the Ps2 whilst I was enjoying a plethora of updates and mods for the Xbox. Especially save created by Finns great editors.
So I really do not want to go to PS3. But this made me start considering it a little.
So is there a chance that some of these "tagged" systems might get re-instated? The messages from DT Linder sound encouraging. But who is he? Sorry if that is a lame question but I've been downloading rosters around here for years and I don't recognize the name. Maybe I just forgot or something.
Thanks.Comment

He creates roster updates. He has been accused of stealing rosters and claiming them as their own but thats a whole other thread. Back on topic, I'm a firm believer that when NCAA comes out in 2 months this will be a non issue. Either the community will find a workaround or MS will fix it.There is the irony. Looks that way. Still don't see it as being a "get rid of the 360" type problem, or even close to it.

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Its a lot of talk but I doubt people will do it. The roster makers have already found a workaround and the ones who have been blacklisted look like they will be taken off the list. Realistically here is the choice:
1) Stick with the 360, use the workaround and hope that MS doesnt do anything dumb like this again in the fall update.
or
2) Sell your 360 and games on Ebay or at Gamestop and pay the difference that it takes to buy a ps3 and games.
I think most people will choose 1. I'm choosing 1 unless the workaround stops working when NCAA drops in July.Comment

I'm not ditching my 360 by any means, but I may go PS3 for my sports games if the issue isn't resolved.Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
EG,
Clarify this for me. Isnt the issue resolved? I havent read every post in this thread but it appears that if the update doesnt come from a blacklisted 360 it will work right?Comment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
Oh yeah, I just mean if FK gets blacklisted again or there are issues. If no issues, then my sports games are 360. If issues rise up from now until NCAA launch, then I'll go PS3.
It's the one nice advantage of being a junkie and owning all the systems..LOLComment

Re: Houston, we have a problem (Roster transfers not working on XBox 360 any longer)
I try reading all this, but I am not getting what is wrong. So if I want to used DK rosters, I can't? Even if I have the data transfer file on my P.C? And transfer it to my memory card. Also, what is the resoan for this? Why would MS care about roster file sharing. Thanks.Comment
