There was a guy going on a rant about Starcraft II and piracy in general. In several posts Cebby called him a Stan. A Stan is an irrational fan and comes from the song by Eminen of the same name. I just found it funny that mudman didn't know what it was and thought Stan was being used as his name.

I wondered what the story was behind the sig as well. My original thinking behind it was that it was some kind of stalker insisting that he was Stan and that he knew him from somewhere.

Been Sifting through the last 20 or so pages. I have a situation:
I have a 40 GB (Fat) PS3, That has the faulty blu-ray lense. I think, My system no longer loads or reads any disc in general. It has been down since April 18th ): I have been dying for PS3 as I have went through 4 XBOX 360 (3 due to RROD)
My plans:
I planned on taking the HDD out of my 40GB, and Inserting it into my friends PS3 60 GB (Fat) with a 60 GB HDD in it currently. I only want to do this till I work up money to buy a bigger HDD (150+ GB)
First is this possible to switch hard drives and systems successfully? Neither of Us care if we lose information. As long as it works properly we have most all saves backed up already. Also that all the capibilities are still available. Like I seen BLZR had trouble signing in online etc.. ( I was sifting through the pages, not fully reading)

anyone else notice this in other parts of the country?

PS....i can get re-furb'd ones but not interested in that route

I had that issue last month when my BR drive went out. Finally found one at the 5th GS I called. Just got to get lucky it seems.

My buddy at work (also in Boston) can't find one either. Gamestop told him it was due to a lot of good games coming out recently so sales of PS3's have been great. Don't know how true, but that was his reason...

Question for the PS3 vets: I have a 32-inch 720p Samsung HDTV. I have component cables that can be used for multiple systems (GameStop's brand, I think) and I use that for my 360 and PS2. Should I also use that for the PS3?

I know you can hook up a PS3 with an HDMI cable, but I was under the impression that if your TV didn't support 1080, it wasn't worth it to use the HDMI. Is that correct?

And yes, regarding the PS3's, you have to get extremely lucky. I scooped mine up at a Best Buy last week. Last one on the shelf. I had been looking for 2 months with no success. I think it's b/c Sony is making all the Slim's the 2101 model.

HDMI is good to use in either case man, but the component cables are fine. I'd still get myself a nice set of HDMI cables.

Check monoprice.com.... Im sure you'll find you some anywhere from 3 bucks to less than 10 bucks.

Its a great place to find things like that.

Sony credits the PS3 Slim as their turning point

Sony's hardware business was limp and sad even right after the launch of the PS3. I was an idiot and paid $600 for my PS3, but no sane person fronted that kind of money for what boiled down to be a fat Blu-ray player that could also play a handful of mediocre games. But even when the good games began to hit, people still sat back, as the price was still too high. We muttered under our breaths for years that there needed to be a price drop. Sony finally listened, and now SCEE president Andrew House says that the price drop and the release of the PS3 Slim was their "stand out moment" in the turn for the better.

"From a business point of view, I have to say that the stand out moment for me has to be the launch of PS3 slim at 299 euros in September 2009," House said at the UK PlayStation Blog. "We know that for a long time, PS3 was expensive and therefore holding people back. When we launched the slim PS3, sales exploded and haven’t really slowed down since."
I appreciate that Sony feels good now that they're actually selling hardware, but they talk like they found some magic forumla to making sales. If there's one "magic formula," it's selling hardware at a reasonable price from day one.
