i was just going through some stuff on the net and i found a really nice site for downloading themes for the ps3 all of it is free and there is over 3,000 themes you can download, these are custom themes people created and the cool thing about it is you can use your ps3 go on web browser, go to www.allps3themes.com and then you can download them straight to your ps3 only takes about 25-30 seconds per theme, then once you download it go to your theme settings and it shows up very nice site with lots of themes to choose from, just thought i would share this info with all of you in case you didnt know

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Here is a interesting thing I learned this week. Last week while playing I had a power surge and the PS3 shut off. Earlier this week I tried update MK VS DC but it wouldn't update.
After doing some researching, if you hold the PS3 power button down while the PS3 is off you can access some hidden features. Hold it down and you will hear a beep, this is to reset the video. Continue to hold it and it will do two beeps in a row and once it does, let go. Now access the menu and from here you have several options. Pick restore files. What this does is check the HDD for any errors. Once it checks them it will tell you if anything is corrupted. If something is, (I had it), you can proceed to restore the files. All this does is restore broken bytes of data. Gamesaves, data, etc, are all left intact. I found this very useful as soon as I did this, I could download the update. The XMB was also quicker."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
This is useful if you need to connect your PS3 to a different TV that is incompatible with the current settings. Say you already playing on a tv that shows 720p and you need to take the PS3 to a different tv is only compatible with 1080i. So with the PS3 settings at 720p, you're going to see garbage on the new TV... Resetting the video basically drops the PS3 video settings to 480i so you can actually see the menu on the different tv. From there you can adjust accordingly.
That was just one example, though. It's also useful for a HDMI to composite TV switch when the PS3 only outputs in one or the other.Last edited by SqueakyD; 12-22-2008, 10:12 PM.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Here's a problem I've been having off and on for the past few months, hopefully I'm not alone. Occasionally when playing, my PS3 controller will randomly shut off and when I hit the PS button, all 4 LED lights light up and blink but the controller never re-syncs. This happens with both dualshock and regular controllers.
The 4 lights will keep blinking even if I re-connect to the system via the usb cable. The only way to fix this is to shut the main power switch off on the back of the console and restart everything.
Very frustrating when it happens and I can't figure out how to re-sync the controller and system without shutting everything down. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
the ps3 isnt such a bad machine when it comes to running linux... i installed yellow dog linux 6.1 and im kind of impressed... only thing is it can get slow @ times with only 256 mb's of ram and no access to gpu means no opengl so i cant run any desktop effects like compiz. and my network is wpa/wpa2 and this version of linux doesnt support that on the PS3...native ds3/sixaxis support is nice tho, i was able to play some snes roms with the dual shock

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...
Depends on how much gaming you want to do. Starting out it wont make a huge difference and you can upgrade on your own by picking up a hard drive down the road anyways. However, the 40GB doesnt come with things like a built in card reader so if thats important then check out the other models.Comment
