Re: The On-going Battle..Xbox 360 or PS3??
I'm having a hard time seeing how PSN is very close to XBL, but maybe that's just me. Maybe I am missing some things on PSN. Sometimes I'll sign in to Live to play a game and get stuck watching videos from Inside XBOX or checking out what's new under Spotlight. Netflix streaming only extends the lead. XBL is a helluva lot easier to navigate, for me anyway and has a much more attractive interface among other things.
For the record, I think the PS3 is the better machine. It's more reliable, has the BD player, built in wireless capabilities and when it comes to upgrading the hard drive, a lot friendlier on the pockets. If I didn't have either, looking at what they both have to offer from a hardware perspective at the same price point, I'd go with the PS3 every time; it's a no brainer.
PSN though, is merely serviceable in my opinion, and no where near XBL.PS: You guys are great.

I own both and love both. Xbox Live is better than PSN, even if it costs money. Blue Ray movies kick butt and both systems have some killer exclusive games. If I had to pick just one, I would go with the PS3, because I'm not really an online guy.Comment

Re: The On-going Battle..Xbox 360 or PS3??
The 60gb had 100% bc. As a matter of fact, the only one that didn't have bc at all was the 40gb, but it was the cheapest when it was initially released.NO FANBOY TALK: Look how many types of models that came out. 20gb, 40gb, 60gb, 80gb, 120gb, 160gb, did they come with the backward play? None of them came out with GOOD backwards compatibility. I like sony, but sony better get a grip, because their behind in the console race
And lol @ the "no fanboy talk."Comment

But really just about everything that you could say was in the ps3 that wasn't in the 360 has been taken out each time they make a new sku.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I did the same thing that you did. PS3 is a great system, but it collected a lot of dust for me. Blu Ray and their exclusives weren't appealing enough for me to keep it around.Comment

Obviously that's not what I'm talking about. All the charts that the Sony fanboys liked to show with the advantages of owning a ps3 would be empty except for wireless and blu ray.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. 360:
+ Turns on,plays games etc.
- Waiting a week for demos and not being able to get rosters sometimes just because I don't to want to pay $60 a year to get cursed at by kids not old enough to even play the game.
- Broke 6 times.
+ Was replaced at no cost to me 6 times.
- Hard drives cost too much.
PS3:
- Doesn't turn on or play games or movies. Just beeps and flashes a yellow light.
360 wins this one pretty easily.Comment

Re: The On-going Battle..Xbox 360 or PS3??
The reason for this is because they realize the audience that would pick up the ps3 now dont care about those features. Lower the price by taking out some of the things no one really uses more than a handful of times. Anyone buying the ps3 now most likely is a joe-sixpack who grabs it, doesnt put it on the internet(no need for wifi) and buys a few games for his kids. "Who cares about PS2 BC, i want the latest madden". I am a strong proponent of BC but even I realize that will not help Sony sell as many units; just not worth it.
I still don't know a single person near me (friends and family) that has a blue-ray player. This was not the case when dvd's began springing up. Then again i didn't know anyone near me who had an HD-dvd player. I am pretty tech saavy and like new toys and gadgets just like the next gamer, and even I don't care about BD still; i can't imagine a family member buying a ps3 just to have BLUE-RAY(or an Xbox for HD-DVD at the time). It's about the games. Most features are a novelty and a couple of months later aren't even looked at (Hello Card Readers, Linux Support)
Both Sony and MS are now catering to the non-core gamer market because everyone else(Us core gamers, the guys who go to midnight releases for our hobby) has one or the other or both in this current generation.Last edited by Bacardi151; 08-28-2009, 07:53 AM.Comment
