Yeah, I think I need to just get gamefly and start buying only games I know I will get my moneys worth out of (madden, ncaa, racing games, the occasional RPG).

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I feel the same way as this thread sometimes. I playing in a Madden league on OS and an NCAA dynasty with friends. I picked up NBA 2k for something to play on my own but I keep thinking I should get rid of it an go back to college hoops because I like the college format for a video game better. I want to go back and play through head coach which has been shelved along with UFC and FNR4. I'm playing a lot of modern warfare now and got Super Mario Wii that I got to play with the girl (I planned on playing MW2 tonight but ended up beating mario in a 5 hours session).

Anyways anyone use goozex? It is a pretty cool game trading service I think I traded probably a dozen games on goozex. I had some many games I was never going to play so I got rid of them on there and picked up a few games that I wasn't in a rush to play. I feel like I get to many games and don't play some enough to warrent a purchase but some of you guys on my list got me crushed!

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I think this thread is for me. I just bought a ps3 and now I'm overwhelmed with games I want and all the hype.

            AC2
            MW2
            Uncharted
            Dirt2
            Nba 2k10
            Nba Live 10
            L4d

It's just so overwhelming, The thing is, these games are a piece of art nowadays. It's not just a game anymore, It's like an investment, You just want to get all you can, and you believe the hype. And then you just break the bank. Lol I have to be careful because there are like 10 ps3 games I want right now.
I have the Show and NCAA 10, I just need and action and shooter game. But your right It's so damn overwhelming, and yet a blessing.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you Odogg.

The other thing having so many good game in the rotation is you really don't give the amazing ones you do have more than one playthrough. Amazing games like Uncharted2 as so good that i really should play through them more than once but once it's finished i hardly ever play it again and end up getting ripped off when trading it in. I need to stick to the AAA titles (and sports games) and play through them more than once because i know i'll be getting an outstanding experience and better value for money.

I doesn't help that my wife's best friend's husband just started working at an electronics store and say i can get any games i want at cost price. I know they are cheap but i can already tell i'll end up buying it because it cheap and not because i really want / need it.

I don't know why, but I feel like a loser when I walk in a video game store. I'm not even kidding. It helps me buy less games I'll tell you that much.

I buy 3-4 a year and I try to get them from Wal-Mart instead of walking into a GameStop or some store like that.

I buy non-sports titles maybe once every two years.

Yea I thought that was a weird comment also. I am comfortable with myself and by no means some dorky kid. I am a grown adult and could careless what anyone would think of me for walking into a game store.

Maybe it is a confidence issue, I am confident with myself enough to go anywhere just about and have zero thought of "what if someone saw me?!?!"

Judging by your comment though, you make it sound as if by you playing video games you feel like a loser. It is a self esteem thing, I bet you feel more "manly" by walking into a gun store huh?

There is no doubt I have too many games in my stable.

                        MW2
                        NBA LIVE 10
                        NBA2K10
                        NCAA Basketball 10
                        Assassins Creed 2
                        Socom Confrontation
                        Fight Night Round 4
                        Madden 10

I refuse to buy any more games this year. I have to be more disciplined next year and at the same time be more selective in my choices. Makes for less to complain about. Peace!!!

No. I guess it's the perception about video games being for kids, and I'm not a kid.

I don't know I just don't like going into places like a GameStop.

Just saying how I feel about things!

hmm...well did you know Xbox Magazine did a survey of Xbox 360 owners and the median age of a 360 gamer is 31 years old? That's not much of a kid! I think you're just worrying for nothing, honestly every time I am in Gamestop it's people my age in there, not kids.

Weird. I go into Gamestop all the time. Especially when the wife is shopping at the mall. Never saw it as an embarrassing thing though, not sure why I would. Everyone I know plays videogames.

I speculate that perhaps stewaat has had some woman in his life chastise him in the past about video games are for kids. My mom has insinuated as much in the past but she hasn't done so in a long time since now she realizes that everyone younger than 45 (and even some over 45) is almost a lock to be a gamer at this point.
