Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

So i'm just wondering how anyone who has had this affliction is doing? I've done great over the last month but not much has come out to be honest. I've done great at playing a variety of my games too, although Modern Warfare has been a big attention hog as I love that game.

Any new years resolutions from you guys to rent more??

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I bought too many games over the last month. I am a sucker for game sales.
I haven't bought any new releases since L4D2. Wasn't planning on that one right away, but saw it on sale for $35 around Black Friday.
Then on end of year sales I bought these: 50 cent, Fable 2, Riddick, Ghostbusters and Fallout GOTY.
Then XBLA had 1/2 off on some games and I got Shadow Complex, Castle Crashers and The Maw.

Almost forgot the games my son got for Christmas that I played with him: Wii Sports Resort, Beatles Rock Band and Mario Sonic Winter Olympics.

I am absolutely not buying another game until Mass Effect 2.

Not so good. Was trying to limit myself to buying either Darksiders or Bayonetta, but the ToysRUs deal makes it hard to pass up getting both (today). Think I'll be strong enough to hold off on Mass Effect 2 later this month. But Splinter Cell Conviction is next month; gonna be hard holding off, then the baseball games a few weeks later. And then Final Fantasy (will try to hold off on) and Red Dead Redemption (day one) soon after. Too many triple-A titles in a short period of time unfortunately. Will have to do a better job w/trade-ins I guess
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

I played Demon Souls over break a bit...a bit of Smackdown v Raw too.

Really want to try and finish DA:O next, but I have the GOW remaster and Saboteur from GameFly, though I'm not totally digging either of them. Both solid, just haven't hooked me.

I am going to rent more for a bit, though ME2 and other big releases I'll have to buy.

I don't know how you could buy Bayonetta and Darksiders but skip Mass Effect 2.

I am doing same thing. Bought Bayonetta and going get Darksiders tonight. Then Dante's Inferno in February.

I bought Mass Effect 1 and did not really enjoy it. I got about 60% through it and just traded it in. It felt like a chore to sit down and play it.

All these new games and now I'm hooked on GTA4 again. Finally playing through Lost and The Damned. That and NHL 10 dominating my game time this week

I'm doing good so far. Of course, as I mentioned, I'm between jobs at the moment so I know for a fact I won't be buying any new games for a while.

Right now I've been sticking to Madden 10, NHL 10 and NBA Live 10 on the 360 and playing MLB 09 The Show on both the PS2 and PSP. More than enough to keep me busy for a while, although I have been contemplating playing through Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 again.

I do pretty well with games, I always play the ones I buy but some more than others. The thing is, there's so many good games coming out soon and I kind of want them. Darksiders looks cool and the demo for Dante's Inferno was fun. Of course I'll get Mass Effect 2, and I was hoping to have just that until SSFIV came out, but playing the demo for Dante's Inferno made me realize how fun those hack and slash games can be, and now I kind of want one.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

                      Great thread.

I just had that "I have too many games, I need to simplify" moment, and I'm trading a few older sports games in today. I am looking to pick up LittleBigPlanet as I heard that was a lot of fun.

I'm savoring my experience with Uncharted 2 (may be the greatest game I've played) and swapping between NBA2k10 and Fight Night Round 4. I've gotta give these their run now, because it's all over once March 2nd hits. It's kind of nice when one game is so good it really pushes everything else back to the shelf.

The only game tempting me right now is Darksiders to be honest.

Was pretty easy, actually. ToysRUs was giving a $40 gift card if you purchase them both so jumped on it. And haven't regretted it; I love the hack n' slash/apocalyptic/Zelda take Darkstalkers has. And Bayonetta is just crazy action - my problem with it is understanding the story. I'm pretty sure I'll get Mass Effect at some point; may buy it before or instead of Final Fantasy

well I caved in and got Darksiders. I had $30 credit at gamestop so I only paid $33 for it, which I am happy about because I'm concerned about depth/replayability. Still, reading different reviews and seeing some videos it looked like a game I'll enjoy a lot so I went for it.

However, I still need to finish: Borderlands DLC and second playthrough, Dragon Age, Forza 3 career mode and I would like to beat Gears of War 2 on insane and Halo ODST on legendary. Looks like I've got some work to do.

I picked up Mass Effect today for $9.99 at K-Mart. Never played the game and figured for that cheap a price, I'd give it a shot. I'm not a huge RPG guy but the Sci-Fi storyline intrigues me.

Speaking of Mass Effect, I'm VERY tempted to buy Mass Effect 2 despite only getting about 30-40% through the first one. How stupid is that? But I keep reading the thread about how it's so much more fun and more better and I'm severely tempted. If I can just hold out a week or two more then maybe it will pass. It's tough though! I will not cave! Ok, probably won't. Ok, hopefully won't...LOL
