I'll be a mix of the two formats. Some games like HSG I'll get the cheaper digital version because that is a game I know I'll play a lot and not trade in. The Show will probably be a physical copy because it is a yearly game that will be traded in. Games like Uncharted, I'm undecided on, probably digital though since I never could come to trade in the PS3 versions.

I like physical media too, but hated the UMD format. Crazy how we are back to using cartridges, but better than UMD any day. If memory was cheaper than what Sony is charging I wouldn't mind digital on certain games.
GameStop pisses me off, they have the memory cards for $5 more than everyone else. What in the world are they thinking?Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I guess I don't see the reason not to get the 3G First Edition bundle since it comes with a 8GB memory card. That card is $30 plus you get a free PSN game. Not sure what the PSN game is but I'd think that having that and getting the thing a week early would be worth that extra $20 (if you were to get just the Wifi and a 8gb card). I would never pay for the 3G service, but the bundle seems like a really good deal.
Has Sony said how much space games will take up? Ballpark-wise, would a 8gb hold 5 full games if I don't plan on putting any other media on the card? Just 2 games? 10 games?Last edited by aukevin; 02-01-2012, 12:40 PM.

I think I posted the file sizes several pages back of the launch titles based on the Japanese releases.Comment

The bundle with the 8gb is not a week early. The 3g week early bundle is a 4gb card. The 3G with 8Gb card comes out same time as the rest of the versions.Joshua:

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I've been back and forth on this for a few weeks,
I'm trying to talk myself out of it, but the Sony fanboy in me, just will not go away! I all ready own a PS3, 360, and just recently bought a Wii.
Much like Matt, I spend a lot of time at work, the gym, and at home. I still go out, but usually on weekends and I won't have much opportunity to play it then. I need to make a decision soon and try to get a pre order in.
I know it's been mentioned before, but what are the release titles ? Just Uncharted ?Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I have to admit, I've always been the type who didn't care for handheld gaming. I've never owned any handheld system, not even a Gameboy, but the more I read about the Vita, the more interested I get. I just don't think I would play it that much. If I am at home, I would just hop on my PS3 or 360... yet the temptation is still there.Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I spent some time over lunch at Gamestop playing one. I've been a day 1 purchaser ever since I heard about it so take this with a grain of salt but i was blown away by it. I played FIFA and Top Spin 4, both of which were like holding a PS3 in my hand. I was shocked when I saw how many teams they have in FIFA. To me it looked like they had all the teams from the console version - even the 3rd tier English teams!
If the sports games truly become transferable back and forth like The Show this year, the Vita may become my console of choice. The graphics are outstanding and with the touchscreen and touchpad the controls have the potential to be better on the Vita.Comment

Uncharted was visually awesome and a notch below UC2 in terms of graphics imo. This is the killer launch title if anyone is looking for one.
Modnation really felt like the PS3 version to me which is a good thing having a bite size version.....now they just need to patch in online.
Little Deviants I did not care for at all.
Escape Plan has a nice visual style, just couldn't get into the demo.
FIFA Soccer was quite impressive that they took the console version and stuffed it into a handheld.
Hot Shots Golf was also very nice, but the graphics were a bit underwhelming......buts its HSG and the game is just fun.
Virtua Tennis 4 was also quite impressive with crisp visuals and solid controls which I did not expect.
Wipeout also falls under the impressive category considering how nice the game looks and plays. This will be huge that PS3 and Vita owners can play MP against each other.
I'm actually considering trading in a few games I don't play anymore to get a 16gb memory card since I do also have a few digital PSP games. What to do. LOL!Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
Played this today at GameStop and changed my pre-order. They have a 300$ bundle with a 8Gb Memory Card, 1 month of 3g service, and a free game. Pretty much worth it in my opinion. If I don't need 3g, I won't re-up it after a month, and maybe use it if I go on a big trip or something. Gameplay wise, it felt unbelievable. I now know why the CD guys at The Show said it felt so good.Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I thought I had read somewhere that the cartridge games had an install, or at least some of them, is that true? Being a cart I don't think there would be, but was wondering.
Things seem to be improving in Japan.
PlayStation Vita Hardware/Software Sales Improving
Are things looking up for Sony's handheld in Japan?
Japanese sales figures for both hardware and software are now in for the week ranging from January 23rd to January 29th. And while things aren't looking great for Sony in terms of PlayStation Vita sales (or even good, for that matter), sales have improved. Not only did PlayStation Vita sell more during this week than the previous week, but a new Vita release is also near the top of the software charts.
Sales figures translated by Andriasang show the PlayStation Vita having sold 18,942 units during the week in question, an improvement of over 3,700 Vitas from the week before. While still being outsold by Nintendo's 3DS by a ratio of over 4:1, any sign of improvement is a good sign for Sony.
Namco Bandai's Tales of Innocence R, an improved port of the Nintendo DS Tales of Innocence, sold extraordinarily well during this week as well, placing third overall on the software charts. 54,853 games were sold at retail, and that number doesn't take into account digital downloads via the PlayStation Network. No other PlayStation Vita games charted in the top 20 software sales chart.
During the same week, 3DS sold 84,789 units, while Sony's older handheld, PSP, sold 16,008 units. PlayStation 3 pushed 22,924 units during the week, outselling Microsoft's Xbox 360 by a ratio of over 18:1. Nintendo's Wii also continues to do respectably, selling just over 10,000 units.
Armored Core V topped the sales charted, releasing on PlayStation 3 and pushing 163,906 units at retail. The Nintendo 3DS game Resident Evil Revelations came in second with 146,559 units sold. Mario Kart 7 and Monster Hunter 3G, both for Nintendo 3DS, rounded out the top five, with 29,230 units and 27,032 units sold respectively.Comment
