 Re: Kinect Reviews

bought this for my son for Xmas, are there any must-have games? Kinect Sports just seemed really similar to Wii Sports which we played 4 years ago...is it worth $60?

Also - is there a consensus best fitness game to get?Comment

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Got a Kinect for Christmas and absolutely love it. I got Kinect Sports as well.

I brought it over to my grandparents tonight and I've never had more fun playing videos games with family. Even my grandfather, grandmother and aunt bowled. It was so awesome.

After doing the track and field, I am exhausted. I can't wait to get Dance Central tomorrow!

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Got one from my wife. Pretty cool - just need to wait for some games now. I played for about 20 minutes and the game it came with was getting old already. The technology is amazing, though. I'm a little creeped out by it taking pictures of me and saving them, though. That's really something they should give as an option when you first plug in the thing to turn off. It's pretty cool, though - again, it just needs developers to make some great games for it now.Comment

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Haven't tried it out more than just with my mom (got it x-mas too), but I have to second about the track and field thing. I had been playing kinect like all day so when I played it at 4 I was literally worn out afterwards. :PGot a Kinect for Christmas and absolutely love it. I got Kinect Sports as well.

I can definitely see myself end up getting tired of certain activities and such (though probably never bowling or track and field), but I mostly got the kinect for my mom and the 360 for me but if they put out some more good kinect games I could see myself using the kinect a lot.

Love it so far though. I hate dancing but I might just have to try dance central since it's supposed to be so good.Comment

The fiancé got me one for Christmas & the whole family has had fun with it. I have adventures & kinect sports. I love kinect sports. Can't wait 2 see where this technology goes in the near future. I can definitely see how a workout game would be pretty good if donevright.PSN: Koolie_G

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Is Dance Central the one by Harmonix (they made one right)? I watched a vid of that one and it looked really good.

I got a Kinect (and a 360 since I didn't have one) for Christmas and I really like it. In addition to Adventures I got Kinect Sports, Joyride, and Sonic Free Riders. Sports and Joyride are a lot of fun. Sonic is pretty tough to get the timing down, but it seems like it could be fun. I can't really play it much right now because I had surgery on my foot about 3 weeks ago and the orientation you have to stand in for that game puts too much pressure on my big toe (had a screw put in it). Strangly all the running and jumping in Sports has no effect lol.

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Finally got to break this out yesterday. Very impressed.

My son played Kinectimals forever. Then he played the soccer game on Kinect Sports and we did a little Dance Central.

I'm going to a new years eve party Friday and they're are trying to talk me into bringing the kinect and Dance Central. Don't know if that's a good idea lol.PSN: JISTIC_OS

 Re: Kinect Reviews

I'm sure it will cause plenty of laughter. I used to think I could "cut a rug", but if I saw myself dancing in that game, I know I would feel totally different about my skills. I think I'll just not dance and that way I will still be under the delusion that I am a good dancer.PSN: Koolie_G

 Re: Kinect Reviews

Dance Central is awesome, coming from an overweight and unfit guy with absolutely no rhythm who usually doesn't dance much at parties (i only got it because it came free with my Kinect sensor), and i've been playing it non-stop solo for the last week or so. That said i've somehow managed to get 5 stars on Hard for 17 of the first 18 songs (the one i failed was "Down" by Jay Sean/Lil' Wayne, just can't get the 5th star no matter what!). The game seems to be more generous when doing the full routine than in 'Break-It-Down' mode when rating you, so i'm thankful for that, and i think its got a good range of songs/routines that suit guys or girls appropriately. I've actually come to like that Soulja Boy song because of DC lol, and also "Teach Me How To Jerk".

There doesn't seem to be an option to view all past photos in DC though...the stats page says its taken 1000+ photos of me but where can i view them? That's my only gripe with DC, you can't seem to view photos/videos let alone upload them (like with some first party games like Adventures and Sports) which i feel is a missed opportunity considering the hilarious poses you make in the game...

The only other game i've played so far is Kinect Adventures which doesn't seem to a favoured game around the web but i've enjoyed it alot. The Rafting, Rallyball and Reflex Ridge games are good fun while the other two (Space Pop and 20,000 Leaks) are pretty dull, but are at least a decent option to 'cool down' after doing some of the advanced rafting/reflex courses lol. And i love that you can upload photos it takes and share them via Facebook (although the camera res is pretty poor). I do hope future games also incorporate this photo upload feature.

I might pick up Kinect Sports before the new year, that and DC seem to be the 2 best games out atm.Comment
