Why do you think these two things are mutually exclusive?

The prospect of using Netflix on the original 3DS seems funny to me, while the XL looks much more attractive. Definitely has us considering a purchase.

You're right...They aren't exclusive.

It just doesn't seem like the right time (to me, business wise) to introduce a new version of your portable console just a year after the original releases. Without the circle pad built in. I've read a few articles on gaming sites as well, I'm not the only one questioning why Nintendo is giving us something no one's been asking for.

You are correct though, hopefully the games will start to flow more, and this doesn't impact that at all.

I think I more just am having issues with Nintendo as a whole. Wii U didn't do much for me at E3, Wii ended up being more of a disappointment for me personally, and the 3DS is "eh"....

I will probably pass on Nintendo systems in the future.

Dumb question I just thought of:

Is there ANY chance of the 3DS XL with a circle pad pro attachment working as a WiiU gamepad?

The thing people always forget about just "adding a 2nd circle pad" is that the CPP also adds a ZL and ZR buttons. With a CPP, the 3DS has the exact same layout as the WiiU Game Pad.

I do wonder how much it'll cost to trade a regular 3DS into GS and get the XL...Plus you'd have to trade in (or re-buy) the Circle Pad Pro as well, somewhat annoying...

I've had the same thought, but gonna keep it as well. Haven't gotten anything lately at all, but I'll want to play it more in the future I think/hope.

Just give me a FPS (CoD or whatever...you can do it on the Wii, you can do it on the 3DS) with a CPP voucher, and I'd be thrilled.

Yeah, I'm in. I never got a dsi xl so I'm stoked to have the large screen. Haven't decided if I'll trade in my 3DS or not.
