    Re: Wii U Discussion

Okay a few notes after playing for 3 hours.

    1. So far my6 year old son and I have had the most fun with scribblenauts- it's perfect for him. He has a great imagination and he can't spell a ton of words yet, so he gets to be creative and learn to spell a little bit too. I couldn't be happier with that purchase.

    2. We played NintendoLand for a little while - the donkey kong game and the octopus dance game. Didn't really grab us but we didn't play the good games like Zelda and the Luigi game.

    3. Super Mario is fantastic. Easy, but I suck at Mario games so I need a easy haha. It looks beautiful in HD - this might be the first Mario I finish since SMB 2 haha.

So far totally happy with the system. Taking a break now and will get to ZombiiU tonite after The Walking Dead.

So I took back ZombiU and will grab used down the line. Used the $ to get a second Wiimote and have 20"ish extra for wii points down the line.
I was ae to get the wiimote (new) for a 5.00 discount as the box was damaged during shipment.

Daughter is back from camp but is tired so I tbink I'm playing more Madden then later tonight Scribblenauts

Really wish you would've tried out ZombiU, it's gotten some great reviews today. But don't blame you since you bought 90% of the launch titles. LOL

            Re: Wii U Discussion

Set up my Miis today, and the transfer from the 3DS Mii Maker was as slick and easy as could be. The Wii U walks you right through it, and on the 3DS, you just select the one you want to send, and it's kind of cool. A clone is made on the 3DS, it waves goodbye and then jumps up off the screen. IMMEDIATELY on the TV, the Mii drops down from the top of the screen, and it's on the Wii U. Painless.

Really enjoying the interface right now.

Question: if you plug in headphones into the gamepad, does that mute the audio out of the console so as to play in silence to others in the room?

I really want to hear some Zombie U impressions. I've been looking forward to it for months and I'm disappointed that the reviews aren't as high as I thought they would be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

                  Re: Wii U Discussion

                  Some quick impressions...

Holy updates. No problem with the initial system update, but the updates for specific games seem noticeably slower than ps3/360.

Love the gamepad, and the potential is there for a ****load of cool ideas going forward. My only problem now is that I need to buy a giant old time-y chest to hold all of my wii stuff. I now have the gamepad, 3 wiimotes, two classic controllers, nunchucks, mario kart wheels, a wii fit board, and the new wireless pro controller.

Speaking of the new wireless controller.. Not really sure if I like it all that much. Overall, it feels like a slightly cheaper 360 controller, but it's definitely solid enough. Having the sticks(particularly the right stick) up top is going to take a little getting used to, and it didn't help that you can't reprogram the aim/fire button in Blops 2 onto the shoulder buttons.

The "trigger" buttons are a little disappointing too. No range of motion to them at all.. they simply click, and that's it. Other than that, the sticks are pretty similar to the classic pro controller. Much stiffer than what I'm used to on the ps3, but I've gotten used to them before, so that is more of a preference than complaint.

It really isn't that bad of a controller, it just isn't worth the 50$ price tag.

The new super mario looks pretty cool. I've been watching the girlfriend play it for a little while now, and it's like they've combined aspects from almost every major mario game to date. And mario in full HD looks pretty damn sweet.

It's really nice to have a Nintendo system in HD and with hardware that's up to snuff with the current gen. Though it's a shame that it may be quazi-obsolete in a few years, when the real next gen systems start to hit their stride.

I bought ZombiU too, so I'm looking forward to firing that up soon. I'll have to mix in some walking dead too.
                  Now, more than ever

Yeah I dind't want to spend the money on the wireless so I just grabbed the Wii Pro Wired controller for 19.99

Would love to hear your impressions of ZombiU

                        From ign.com:

                        2) One-Way Requests

The is by far the easier method, assuming you know where to go. Making a friend request cannot be done through the Friend List. It must be done through Miiverse with these steps:

                        - Load Miiverse

                        - Go to User Menu (upper-left corner, with a small picture of your Mii)

                        - The fourth option down says 'Search User'

                        - Type in the name you want. (Say 'RichIGN')

                        - The name must be specific (though case is not important)

                        - View the profile

                        - Towards the right side you'll see the Friend Request button, near 'Follow' and a drop-down arrow that allows you to Block or Report.

                        - Want to request another? Head back to your User Menu.

Clearly Nintendo needs to tighten up this experience, as pushing Requests out of the Friend List hub is utterly nonsensical. Still, for now, this is what we have to work with.

                        Happy friending!

They messed up on a passing play while trying to use the tablet controller during the live stream the other night due to frames dropping. Wasn't clear that was an issue running the game, the stream to the tablet, or both.
